Suge what did you think about When All Hell breaks Loose????


I kinda knew what was going to happen, in the 5th chapter it all came together for me then and the rest was just trying to see how it would pan out....

What about you?
 



I agree ATL....

yeah that part of the story was obvious....you knew it was coming, but you just didn't know how or when. Plus the subplots of his sister and her boyfriend, and his parents also kept me reading the book. Overall I liked it..........

I read this one last year. It was good overall especially for her first book. Been waiting on her next one. If you haven't read Casting The First Stone, read it.

Thumbs up to all the male novel readers. That's impressive. Shows diversity.
 
When All Hell Breaks Loose

Now, I have read this one and it was very good. I got it as a birthday present this year.

The author is from right out of DTown in South Oakcliff.
 
Props to the Coldest Winter Ever and When All Hell.....both mentioned the Icon!! We are......man yall know the rest!

Anyway......at first I wasn't feeling Kimberla...I read Casting the First Stone, and I just wasn't impressed. I just got tire of the lead character...she seemed to be whing to much for me. I just wanted her to be a little stronger than she was......but after talking to some women, they kind of broke the woman down for me a little more. Now I have a little more sympathy....

Butthen I read Thin Line and you could see the difference in the writing. She made some great improvements to her character development. The book was off the hinges. And ole girls husband was wild, but even wilder than he was.........was his momma!

Have any of you read Blessings? I just didn't get the end of that book. It just didn't do it for me. Other than that I loved the story...

Any of you read Nelson George..One Woman Short or his newest book(the title escapes me)...but this brother is good. He tackles some issues in his book that AA readers aren't very used to seeing. But it just lets you know that we are into some of everything these days.
 
Suge I read Blessings . It took a minute for me to read it. The book by Bebe Moore Campbell is What You Owe Me .
 
I've finally finished

The book was great, but I was a little disappointed in the non-development of Midnight's character. At first, I was thinking that he and Winter would eventually hook up. So, did he actually play Santiago or did he just CYA? Now, at the end he's adopted the two sisters and turned religious or was it just the girls that turned religious. So, is Porsche now the beoytch of the family? There should be a sequel to this.

Ole boy bailed out on my girl at the end too. She ends up locked up and he didn't get nothing. "Typical"

Winter and her crew end up together in the end tho...behind bars. What a waste. She had the best of everything all her life and end up in jail. I guess it just goes to show that "all good things do come to an end."

I can't wait until the movie version of this one.

I liked that Midnight never slept with Winter. I liked the foreshadowing the book did by bringing out that he listened to Sister Souljah, who later played a role in Winter's life. That Winter was something else. She would spring a couple of hundred dollars on 1 outfit quick. She was a good hustler too while she was in the girls home. I didn't like that her Mom got hooked on drugs. I guess it happens like that occasionally in real life. I was disappointed when the Mom got shot. I took Midnight's adopting the twins as his way of still being loyal to Santiago. Overrall, I thought it was an excellent book, very well developed and definitely left room for a sequel maybe concentrating on Porsche or when Winter is released.

I read good hair. It was good. I enjoyed it.
