He's the guy who coached Butler to the championship game versus Duke years ago. The same Butler team that just changed conferences and gave big name college teams a run for the money.

They maybe washed up but those players know who they are. While some of the current Celtics might know who Brad is the rest don't. This smells like a tank hire. Brad goes in for the lean to bad years and goes back to college with a HIGHER price tag. He made 1.4 million at Butler. Think how much he could demand with former NBA coach under his belt? He has to gettign over 3 million (because that is what UCLA offered).

It doesn't matter whose coaching the Celtics. The way Ainge has gutted this team tells me that the Celtics won't be relevant for the next 5 years UNLESS they get at least two or three top ten players to come there just like they did with Garnett and Allen, to play with Pierce.

Before those two came, the Celtics were pathetic for 25 years. After they've left, they're really not relevant.
Kind of reminds me of a SWAC school, pre and post Pete.
 
Despite his youth, Brad Stevens is a very good coach.

I suspect he's going to have the same problems most college coaches have when they move to the professional ranks. Garnering the respect from the players and instilling the discipline that they are use to getting in college.

Not only that, I think the Butler system would be very difficult to translate to the pro game.

Then, as many are mentioning, the lack of talent is a huge problem.

However, none of that detracts from the fact that Stevens is a very good coach. It'll be interesting to watch what happens to him and the Celtics over the next few years.

Your hate for the NBA franchise that owns the fLakers and the SWAC school that OWNS JSU cannot be healthy. :smh:

But, as you have stated in the past, let's stay on topic here. We are NOT talking about ya'lls pappy(SU). :lol: We are talking about the Celtics.

Not too thrilled with what Ainge is doing. Only thing I can hope is some good comes out of it. Good meaning, not getting a lottery pick for the next 3 years. Whether you realize it or not, even in the drought, Boston still remains relevant. You fLaker fans can't stand that. And you guys should be glad the Celtics had that 20 plus year drought. The fLakers FINALLY was able to win a couple titles ONLY to come CLOSE to the 17 that Boston has. :lol:

Yes, Garnett and Pierce were traded, but they are on the downside of their careers.

So, the C's are not losing much in terms of productivity. The Celtics currently don't have a player on the roster that is 30. Rondo (if not dealt) Green, Bass, Sullinger and Avery Bradley, Lee etc. are solid players. So, the cupboard isn't completely bare for Stevens

I don't think Rondo would be willing to stick around.
 
For a team that expects to compete for championships, I think they lack that level of talent.

Of course, they have a roster full of NBA players just like all the other teams.
 
Boston won't be as bad as everyone thinks. Sure, they won't be a championship-caliber team, but they'll be 6-8 in the East.

Exactly. With the players you mentioned plus a couple of additions before the season starts, they will be ok. And, it all depends on who Stevens surrounds himself with with regards to Assistant Coaches. Also, they have Fab Melo. He better do something!

You mean 9th or 10th. Miami, Chicago, Indiana, New York, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Boston
