The BEST NFL Black Quarterback?

Daunte is unquestionably the best black QB playing today. It aint close.
if Daunte and McNabb were to switch places, the Vikings would be nowhere near the playoffs.

The same thing can be said about the Falcons and Vick. My favorate Qb is McNair but I think Dante is the best with McNabb a close second. If I needed to win one game I would take Vick though.

I'll take McNabb anyday. He stands out as a true leader and never let his emotions get the best of him in pressure situations.

Culpepper is freakin' good, but let's be real. What has Minnesota's W-L record with Culpepper as QB. How have the Eagles been with McNabb? That's what I consider to be the measure of who's truly the best.

Besides, Culpepper ALWAYS had a better supporting cast offensively than McNabb, even after TO came to Philly...remember, Robert Smith was the RB when Culpepper came, he had Moss and Cris Carter and Devin Ward..Now he got Bennett, Onterrio Smith, Mo Wililams, and Mwelde Moore as RBs and still has Moss, Nate Burleson, Marcus Robinson, Kelly Campbell and Jermaine Wiggins as receivers.

McNabb's No. 1 reciever before TO came was Todd Pinkston. Todd Pinkston?

I say like this..take Culpepper away from the Vikings, they'll probably still win games and make the playoffs....take McNabb away from the Eagles, then they'll go 5-11 (although that's a stretch, given their defense is one of the league's best).

"L"...people consider Tom Brady to be the best in the postseason, because he never lost a start. That's not throwin stats up..being the best just comes down to who puts their team in the best position to win.

I say McNabb.

he has had to work with far more inferior recieving corps and yet has made it to the NFC title game 3 times and now the Super Bowl.

Culpepper started his career with two future HoFers on the outsides in Carter and Randy Moss. Not to mention a nice back in Robert Smith, so he was basically the final piece of the puzzle and not the first.

Quincy Carter.
The only QB in history to go 10-6 without a running back or wide reciever.

** Just Joking ***

uuuuh Journ....you would have a point, except for one thing.

The Eagles did lose McNabb for about 8 games when he broke his foot about 2 years ago and they didnt miss a beat. They didnt lose one game until he came back and messed up in the championship game. To make it even worse, they were down to their 3rd string QB and didnt miss a beat. Thats why Feely got that big deal with Miami.

Not only has McNabb had a good supporting cast on offense, but he has ALWAYS had a great defense...Culpepper never did.

The two really arent in the same league. McNabb couldnt begin to throw the ball like Culpepper does. The WR has to be wide open for McNabb to throw him the ball. he makes his WRs look bad.

All McNabb does is those lil dump passes...big deal.

I have to agree with GR. While I like Donovan's game and his ability to take control of a game. Duante is still the better Qb right now. He has led the NFC in passer rating 2 years in a row and he has done that with mediocre coaching while Mc Nabb has had Andy Reid. What Culpepper has done is way more outstanding in my book. He may have better offensive talent but he has no coaching whatsoever. It is amazing he has improved to be this type of Qb with Mike Tice and the idiots on the sideline. Then I would rate a healthy Steve McNair as the second best. Donovan would be my 3rd choice and then Byron Leftwich and then Michael Vick. I love Vick, but he has to get better with the passing game. It is not his fault he has no WRs and is in a new system. So his game is still sandlot right now. The good teams will always find a way to beat him if it continues.

Culpepper can get you to the SB. Let's not act like Mc Nabb has taken Philly to bowl like Tom Brady has done at NE. Donovan finally got some help and also finally played 2 inferior opponents in this year's playoffs compared to recent years. I love Donovan's game, but remember this was his best start in 4 tries in the NFC title game. Culpepper probably would not have done no worse in the same circumstances. I only wish he had Jim Johnson as a DC here in Minnesota. Coaching and our sad arse defense has kept Duante from going anywhere. Shole aint been his fault.

I agree that Culpepper is the best of the black QBs. You can't say he has more weapons than McNabb when McNabb actually has a defense. Culpepper has to have his team score buckets of points in order to have a chance to win. With the Eagles, usually 17-24 points is enough.

Say Gee Arrah, I like the rebuttal, BUT

Andy Reid changed the offense when McNabb went hurt. He basically went Baltimore Ravens and rode the running game and defense to the NFC title game that year.

McNabb with a good support cast on offense? Yeah right. C'mon I'll take Nate Burleson and Kelly Campbell over Todd Pinkston and Freddy "Krueger" Mitchell anyday.

McNabb does the dump passes because that's part of the offensive scheme (West Coast Offense)....Culpepper got that Playstation 2 offense up there in Minnesota. But I agree with you, Daunte suffers from bad coaching and a lack of defense. Honestly, Minnesota ain't had no defense since Jim Marshall and the Purple People Eaters!!!! Corey Chavous? Ha!!!!!
I wonder will they trade one or two of those RBs for some defensive help.

Also, McNabb was drafted to be the franchise, not a part of the franchise like Culpepper was. McNabb's accuracy ain't the greatest, but he has began to evolve and do well in Andy Reid's system. (I wonder how McNabb's numbers woulda been if he had Robert Smith, Moss and Cris Carter surrounding him? Wonder how McNabb would be with Moss, the four RBs, Burleson and all dem cats).

I'm not tryin to knock Daunte, I actually like what he does. But McNabb's the one I'll go with..Besides Daunte has a habit of not holding onto the ball, but it's not as bad as Vick's second cousin in the N.O.

SIDE NOTE: How would you think Culpepper would've done if (1) fans wanted the organization to draft a dreadlocked weedhead RB with a gender ambiguity instead of you as the franchise --Philly fans booed him when he got drafted (2) the hopes of an entire franchise rests on your shoulders in the most rabid sports town in America (3) get brought into the race discussion by a certain drugged-out blowhard and (4) go through three straight conference title games before breaking through the fourth go-round.

Heck we seen how the Vikings tanked it the last couple of seasons down the stretch.

Culpepper is the best black QB and I think McNair is probably the second best with McNabb following closely at #3. However, before it is said and done, M Vick will be sitting on top of the world. Atlanta does not have any wide receivers and this really makes Vick look bad from a passing point of view. The league is full of talented black QBs right now.

For all you people that say Vick doesnt have WRs, you are sadly mistaken. The Falcons got Price and Dez white to help Vick. Plus they drafted that kid out of Ohio State. The problem is not that Vick doesnt have WRs, he wont THROW the ball to them unless they are wide open. Price had a break out season with the Bills as the second WR right before the Falcons picked him up.

But Price is suffering from the same problem that the Philly WRs have been dealing with for the past 4 years. they have a QB that wont throw the ball to them unless they are wide open. Rarely are WRs wide open in the NFL. Most routes and passes are timing. If Troy Aikman had waited til Michael Irvin got open, he never woulda thrown him the ball.

Lastly....if Culpepper had been the Eagles QB, they would have gone to the SB 3 years ago.

GR,

Your post proves that you have not been watching Atlanta Football. It is not a good rule of thumb to talk about something you don't know nothing about. People in the ATL are fed up with Price. His alligator arms and pass dropping antics has everyone thoroughly disgusted with him in this city. He has been a gross disappointment and his performance is no where near what he accomplshed with Mould playing on the other side in Buffalo. His over paid arse has a label of being a coward (this ain't the SEC son). The kid out of OSU is coming along but is still matriculating. And good lord Dez White? He must get regular play in pre-season and mop up duties because otherwise his arse is invisible. Vick has no go to wide out targets period. Thank goodness for the all pro tight end Algie.

You shole is right. For GR to try to hold Price up as a great receiver really says a lot about just how uninformed GR is. :smh: But then again, this is the same guy who passed Bell off as a great coach too. So, I'm not surprised at all.
