The 10 Best College Marching Bands Ranked


2014 and JSU Band is not doing a damn thing. What have JSU done? It's 2014 and that band has never seen outside the U.S. Don't hate the truth.

Got folks calling the Hall of Champions merely to disprove that JSU's not a part of it??!! Are you kidding me?! Is it that serious and THAT much jealousy and hate?! So it seems....so it seems.:smh:

Dude, the BOOM has deep BASS drums and we're known by that along with balanced sound. su's known by loud treble horns.
Come on man, get it right. The BOOM has no reason to sound like su. We have our own style of soul, R&B, funk and blues.
su has it's own style of jazz.

Dude, if anything, SU is trying to sound like the BOOM. You added more woodwinds and now you can play a few more songs other than whole note rap songs.

More lies. If anything the band's woodwind section is about the size it was during JR's time in the band and before that. Ohio St has no woodwinds so there goes your theory about songs you can play with or without woodwinds.

jstank has hired a ton of SU grads on their staff while SU has never and will never hire anyone from jswhoo or anywhere else other than SU. Yall have a SU grad on staff now. :lol:

yep, we hired Chatman for ONE year, Duplesis who led the WORST version of the BOOM of ALL TIME and then there was Adams who tried to make us sound like we were playing circus music for the kids. Yeah, ya'll shole did help us out a lot. And since when is 3 = ton? :lmao: The last being like 15 years ago.

Don't yall currently have Dr. Sanford on staff.....guess what? He's a SU grad. You say what you want but all of those guys you named are LEGENDS except Chatman and he was good.to thine own self be true. If these guys did such a bad job why yall keep hiring SU grads???? Hell yall hired Adams twice and some folks want yall to hire him again.....

You may wanna look around the band world we have more folks out there with top notch programs than yall. We never hired a jstanker

Sanford, came from Norfolk State by default with Dr. Meyers. I only have positive things to say about Sanford, the guy is a true Gentlemen, unlike that azz SU currently has as Band Director. :retard:

Sanford is probably one of the reasons JSU has been out-drilling SU! Haymer is too busy conducting spelling bees for his drills, spelling JS WHO and JAY-Z while JSU is spanking that azz on drills!

How many recent SU grads has JSU hired? None, because we know they ain't about crap!

It is not that it is "that serious", but, doing what I did closes the door on some of the statements posted in this thread.

As for any perceived jealousy or hate towards jsu, you sir, are again, incorrect. In order to be jealous of someone, one would have to want what they have, or want to be like them, or something of the like. I am not impressed by the jsu band, so no need for jealousy.
And hate, well, it is just such a hateful word. I passed my stage of hatred somewhere around my late teens.

I have no reason to hate anyone or anything; I am blessed. However, I will admit this, there is ONLY one thing that I really
like about the jsu band and that is, the color of their uniforms. That though, is only because blue is my favorite color......Carry on!!!

Nope.. i didn't know but I do see him an asset to the staff. He has great history as a Band Director. When Adams took over that band in VA, it sucked and crumbled. I was wondering why Little was the Assoc. HBD instead of Sanford. Now I know why! :lol:

Where is his hometown? Where is he from?

Well said Line Bro! Man you know I have no hate for the Boom at all due to my upbringing. They are just my SECOND or third favorite band is all. LOL. But the truth is SU history/legacy band wise is Greater. Bottom line. Maybe some Jags hate them. But that's for different reasons. But surely no Juke should ever be jealous of them. If you are, then something is seriously wrong.

Sanford hired Adams. From my understanding, some strange things have taken place at Norfolk State starting with Sanford and is why he is on JSU's staff. I am sure Adams made a phone call to Taylor to get Sanford that job. All this Meyers from NSU stuff has nothing to do with Sanford being at JSU. But yes he like Adams are Southernites.

As usual, you got it all wrong, again! Meyers is the reason Sanford is at JSU! Meyers recommended Sanford to Taylor! Meyers is Taylor's boss, there is no "tail wagging the dog" here!

The Boom's legacy is greater than SU's! Davis, Haughton, Taylor and Liddell, We will not see the caliber of talented Band Directors at one school ever again in our lifetime! The End...
