Texas the #1 overall???

J-State Tiger

Senate Candidate #7
How does it turn out that Texas plays the winner of the play in game? These brackets SUck. Why are KY and Zona on the same side of the brackets?

I don't see it as Texas as a total #1 seed. I see it as to where they are playing w/ the 2 play-in participants playing in Dayton, Oh and you having them and their fans come from North Carolina and/or Texas to play as a #16th seed. It seems like they split the distance with the winner having to go play in Birmingham. If anyone getting to go cross country is SC State having to travel to Oklahoma City to play Oklahoma.

I do not think that Texas should have a number one seed. Maybe a two but not a one. Texas got a big gift and will start playing in San Antonio, 78 miles from home.

UT's pre-conference schedule was not the strongest in the nation. I think that Pitt's pre-conference schedule was better that Texas.

EB,

According to the Strength Schedule Index, Texas had a stronger preseason and total schedule Pitt. The committee stated that they did not give an overall #1 seed. The just looked at four regional #1 seeds. "?"

The only real problem I have is with Auburn's bid.

How in the hell did Texas get a #1 seed and KANSAS won the dayum conference???

How the uckf did BOTH Seton Hall and BC not make it, but Auburn did...and is a 10 seed???? :smh:

Texass isn't the #1 overall.

Man, that tournament chairman looked like a fool when he was trying to answer questions. They screwed up these brackets. It always used to be how you finish the season was a big determining factor, now they're using "your whole body of work".

Jafus,
I have a problem with Auburn being in. It's Bama that doesn't deserve a bid.

I checked the schedules and still have a problem with UT getting the number one seed. UT may have a higher RPI rating, but I think that the strength of the pre-season schedules (UT and Pitt) were about the same. They lost at Kansas, finished number two in the Big 12, and lost their first game in the Big 12 tournament. I can agree with Arizona being at number one but not Texas. I think that UT got a gift and overall the Big East got punished.

But if UT makes it to San Antonio, they will be the favorite to make it to the final four out of that region.

This is a no brainer.

Texas:
*Georgia
SFA
Texas Arlington
*Seton Hall
George Washington
*Notre Dame
*Arizona
McNeese St.
Princeton
Louisiana Tech
St. Mary's
(Texas has two teams that made the field of 65

Pitt:
Duquesne
St. Francis (PA)
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Norfolk St.
Penn St.
SE Louisiana
*Ohio St.
Rhode Island
George Mason
*Georgia
Robert Morris

They do not have non-conference game againt a team that made the field 65 (Of course Georgia would have been 1)

Mighty Hornet,

I agree that Alabama look like trash near the end of the year. Alabama started of great against a very difficult non-conference scheduled compared to Auburn. But look at Auburn's schedule

Ntelekt,

Look at the total conference. Remembe Kansas only one the conference by one game over Texas. All the heavy hitters where in Big 12 South i.e. Oklahoma (top 5), Oklahoma State (top 15), Texas (top 5), and even Texas Texas (top 35), each of these team had to play each other twice plus Kansas (top 5), Missouri (top 20) and Colorado (top 30) from the north once. While Kansas only had to play them once, while they caught Texas at home and Oklahoma on the road.

Sh#t that is almost 4 conference losses out the box if you are someone like Texas Tech and Baylor, not including the one game they must play against Kansas losses and earning a split against Oklahoma State.

This what got Tennessee in trouble playing those powers out of the SEC East, Kentucky (top 5), Florida (top 5), Georgia (top 15). Instead of running through the SEC West like Mississippi State.

I can accept that rationale,Jafus. :)

Now, if you can explain how da hell AUBURN got in and Boston College DIDN'T...THEN you'd really be saying something!

Hey, I said the samething to Baby Boy. That one does not make sense to the kid either.

I am just glad that team like Butler, Southern Illinois and Ganzaga, that where not able to when their conference tournaments but had great seasons (only 4, 5, or 6 losses) did not get screwed. So, I will deal with the Auburn versus Tennessee, Texas Tech (although that clock game against Oklahoma should have been been taken into consideration by the committee), Seton Hall, Boston College BCS programs of the world.

The bracket is F'ed up. They have BYU set to play on Sunday, and BYU will NEVER play on Sunday. They will have to adjust the bracket in the South.

I saw the schedules and and still do not think that UT deserved a number one seed. Nor do I feel that they should be the one playing that winner of the play-in game. I think that the committee respected the Big 12 a lot more and did not pay as much attention to the conference tournaments as much as one may expect. (Pitt won theirs.) I think that they paid a lot more attention to the pre-conference schedule than most other things.

But I will not lose any sleep over it.

Personally, I don't think EITHER of them should have received a bid. While I'm a Tide fan, their dive from #1 to done simply should not be rewarded with a bid to the big dance. And then to lose to Vanderbilt the way they did in the first round of the SEC....simply ridiculous!

The only good thing that will come out of this for them is that they get to play Indiana in the first round. The storyline of the game will garner attention simply because Mike Davis played for C.M. Newton at Alabama. The folks at CBS..Gus Johnson, and whomever is on the sideline with him, wil talk about the entire game.

After it's over, Indiana will most likely be headed to the next round, and Alabama will be headed back to Tuscaloosa.

Auburn....'nuff said.
