Texas Southern Withdraws From SWAC Tournament

Um. The ones who are suspended threw a damn punch. Not everybody who ran on the floor, went out there to fight. Some were breaking it up. Why suspend them for it?

Because IT IS THE RULE......but then su never cared about rules anyway.

True. My main thing is the female who missed the lay up obvious pushed a TSU player in the back

It appeared that the official nearest the beginning of the altercation was in the process of calling a technical foul, but it is unclear who he was calling it on.

Texas Southern Is Penalized By the N.C.A.A.

The N.C.A.A. on Tuesday cited Texas Southern for “a lack of institutional control” over its athletics programs, laying a list of violations that included 129 athletes in 13 sports competing while ineligible over seven years.

In announcing penalties against the university, which included five years probation and postseason bans of two seasons for the football team and one for men’s basketball, the N.C.A.A.’s Division I Committee on Infractions released a 34-page report detailing the violations. Beyond Texas Southern’s use of ineligible athletes, the N.C.A.A. also cited academic improprieties, exceeding scholarship limits and a booster’s being involved in recruiting. In one example, the N.C.A.A. said, a football booster bought a plane ticket for a recruit’s girlfriend through an acquaintance of the coach at the time. The N.C.A.A. found that football coaches had encouraged such contact.

In another, the football and men’s basketball coaches, who are no longer in those positions, arranged to have two basketball players receive football scholarships to skirt scholarships limits imposed on the basketball team.

Texas Southern said in a statement that, although the penalties were “significant, the university is in full agreement” with the N.C.A.A. Athletic Director Charles McClelland, called it a “new era in T.S.U. athletics,” saying the concerns raised in the report “have been addressed and corrected.”

It should have been a tech on both SU players... The SU Girl Pushed the TSU player to the floor after she dished the ball.
But Overall I still blame the Refs, especially the Women ref for not being aggressive and taking control.

What more could the refs do? The fight happened quickly. The girl who pushed was ejected with everyone else and the game was called. She got suspended and kicked off.

And the girl who "pushed" the TSU player to the floor during the play committed a charge.

The Lady Ref Ran the Guy Ref should have delayed his called made it between the 2 then make the call.. It was a hard foul... Wrong Refs for the Game, sorry

Sorry, but I disagree. The refs did more than is required in that situation. And the guy was on top of that play before it blew up. That was going to happen regardless.

And yet again this year...and let not go back in time no one has forgotten some of you all degrees are paid for without haven earned the semester hours!

Southern University will remain ineligible for postseason competition because of "unusable data'' from its academic progress rates, the NCAA informed the school Friday. The ruling stays a ban that was implemented in December of 2013.

Though the ban keeps Southern from taking part in NCAA postseason competition, university officials said they continue to work to have it lifted as quickly as possible.

However, as of now, Southern's men and women's basketball programs, both expected to be in the hunt for the SWAC title, cannot compete in the NCAA Tournament.

I'm sure there was a point earlier in the game, the refs could have set the tone and taken control, but at that point it was clear it had been building up and there was no stopping it.

A fight like that doesn't happen in a vacuum

Nah man that makes no sense. Refs are not required to break up fights. The lady ref didn't do anything wrong my moving.
