Texas Southern waxes Jackson State at Shreveport BOTB

Boy what a difference a year makes. Who would have ever thought that Texas Southern got in Jackson. TSU field show was nice, crisp, and clean. While JSU was ripping up a storm. Especially that saxaphone player who was in the trumpet line. That cat was messing up the entire drill. Also TSU's sound was really nice with lot's of power where as JSU's sound was a 7 on a scale of 10. When TSU finished their show the crowd was going crazy whereas when JSU finished you could have heard a pin drop. From what Alcorn did last night they are better than Jackson.
 
Well this is my opinion, i think that TSU didnt really do better, hey i mean no band is perfect as far as drilling and a band in general, but they both did good. Only thing i say that would be a fact i guess, is that TSU drumline did better than J-State's and datz all i have to say

MAnnnnn! I heard. I also heard the D.major fell on his back from J.State. It was also said that the Prancing J-Settes look like ish. What happened to the BOOM...What happened to the Settes. I heard they have guts this year. I'm use to seeing 6 pack abs. Did they stop the body cut? Something is not right in Jackson......... :argue:

I saw him fall!!! I was like.. Okay.. Overall JSU did put on a very nice show and as always, they sounded great

TxSU had a superising sound to open their field show, I was pleased with their sound

Great job both bands...

I know yall are hoping, praying, dreaming that the BOOM won't come to Grambling and issue that annual FOOT IN THE ARSE.

But it will happen....on schedule...as usual. lol.

Man please I was there. Texas Southern sounds good but Jackson State is to much from them. They looked and sound better than TSU from the time they marched around the whole field to the end of there show. When they played "Neck" coming on the field TSU band members heads went down, JSU field show was better, and they played "Toxic" better. Everyone in the SWAC better GET READY when JSU comes in town because they are not playing this year.

As a matter of fact we hope you come and come much improved. I'm not here to talk smack i'm just being real.

I thought that JSU sounded very good and neck for DM entrance was off tha chain.
Txsu you guys did a great job as well.

Well, I heard that the Ocean got the win. :lmao: at Ocean folk hanging their heads on J-State's Neck. THAT'S THE BIGGEST LIE I'VE EVER HEARD IN THE SWAC.

In all seriousness though, to clear up some things that I've been saying for years.....if J-State is great at this level and the PV I saw is the PV from 95 with more numbers and missing a little bit on that traditional driving knee lift then PV vs. JSU would be an interesting game. I know who'd come out on top though. :shh: :headphone
 
98LastRip....i know you didn't come to smack....you're from Grambling ....YOU CAN'T. lol. You don't have to HOPE the BOOM comes. They'll be there. Just work on those amps....and your trumpet sectionals should have everlasting sectionals. They should have to schedule their classes around sectionals. lol.

Before they get all up in an uproar over this thread I just want you to notice that you tryna rip the Ocean up and they are not even on here coming at you. I have seen and been a Jackson fan for some years now and if you have also, you know that wasn't what you normally get from them. Not once did the Ocean reference your name in their show, they just came to do what they were paid to do "perfrom and entertain the crowd present"......Be real about this stuff now. They got crowd response and much love from everybody there on a job well done. Attack them if you may, but the proof is in the pudding.....

THE OCEAN DID SHOW OUT, PEOPLE EXPECTED MORE FROM JACKSON STATE AFTER THEIR HYPED ENTRANCE. JACKSON STATE DID SOUND GOOD THOUGH. TEXAS SOUTHERN WAS MORE AGGRESSIVE AND ENTERTAINING.

So Noise Talka, you say the "MOTION" look like they been hit in the face with pans.....I will laugh at that just for you. :lmao: ....Now we all know that the J-Settes might have had bodies in the past but them mugs have been UGLY. What good is a fine body if they have a face like yours. Are you sure that you weren't one in the past? I'm gonna have to check my tapes and see. The MOTION of the Ocean or the river (as you put it) look DAYUM GOOD from head to toe with the dancing skills to match. I remember when the J-Settes were the best dancers and they were still UGLY. I have never seen a line of Settes where the majority of them had a nice looking face. I remember in 98-99, out of 17 girls only three were nice looking in the face (Kendra, LaQuita, And Afroshonna). Even today in 2004 only 2 look okay (Jasma and the captain). You braggin like yall girls win beauty contest or something. I notice that everytime somebody get on here and say something about the "SONIC Pop" and the ugly azz "HOLD MY MULE" looking dancers, yall cant take it......Face it, the "PoP" is not the "BOOM" no more. The "BOOM" is under construction. I even heard yall Jackson peeps say that the Settes have been rebuilding since '99. Thats a long time to build let alone rebuild something. I think its time they RENEW.....I can help yall out........
1st. get rid of :uzi: "MS.WORTHY". Her time should have been up in 2001 when they first fell off. 2nd. They need to incorporate actual dance skills like they use to do in the routines. All they do now is acrobatic circus stunts and flips thoughout the entire show. That would be okay if they still danced. Yall might as well use the cheerleaders as J-Settes. Whats next ?.....Monkey bars maby? Well atleast they would look the part. :jump: 3rd. They need to stop wearing them ugly azz cat/body suits that they wear year after year that's old and all torn up. They looked like they niqqa rigged them on the way to the battle. Dont get me wrong, I have been a Sette fan for about 7 years and I get mad when I dont see what I'm use to seeing. They have fell off, or you know what? Everyone else has raised their game(including Stingettes) and became good. The J-Settes need to raise the bar again and get back on top. Just stunts and tricks not gonna get it. Far as looks go,....I know what happened, yall Jackson peeps fed them ugly azz gremlins after 12:00.......... :winkgrin:
 
Let me venture to say this, and it is not directed at ANYONE in particular.

After you have seen/heard a program for years, you come in EXPECTING something. When they don't deliver what you expect (regardless of if it was good or bad), you will have something to say.

Example: The first time I saw SU in person was in 1994 at Robertson Stadium. When they played, I was amazed at the type of sound they put out, and I will never forget it. I saw them several times over the next few years. Then I saw them in Rice Stadium in 97. It wasn't quite the same as when I saw them in 94. 98 didn't have quite the same effect as 97. 2000 didn't quite hit me like 98.

WHY???? Because nothing will compare to when you FIRST became a fan. You start looking for things that you EXPECT to be there, and get tunnel vision while looking for those things.

In 94, SU's trumpets were monsters. When I saw them in 97, I was LISTENING for the trumpets, cuz that's what I remembered. I ALMOST looked past the fact that the B-Tones were tight as hell....

Basically what I'm getting at here is that you have to try to look at every performance like it's your first time seeing them. When you EXPECT something before-hand, you miss what actually happens because you are so busy looking for something that's not there.

I second that S Phi S....and that's why the saying is the Sonic Boom is the Sonic Boom's biggest rival. When you have a history like a JSU or SU or FAMU or PV for that matter....it's not a matter of how good everyone else does....it's a matter of you competiting against what everyone remembers and competiting to remain at the same level of excellence.

Post new pics please........neither one of the girls are still on either squad. One thing about it, The Motion didn't have to die her hair red to get Kendra fame after she left............I remeber when she was a blackhead.
 
That was the most recent I could find of TSU.....No one seems to take pictures of them **...those young ladies. *shrug*.
