I have more to give all, inclusive of SU losing to a first yr head coach at McNeese st & PVAMU losing to nicholls st this fall and shsu sticking a foot in our ass the last 2 meetings. The SWAC schools in total SHOULD be excelling on this level.

Respect the history. Honor the legacy. That should be every school’s immediate POA to achieve those goals.

I agree wholeheartedly and if competing outside of the SWAC is not the goal what are we doing? Not one person on this board who owns a business would accept this kind of mediocrity. My goal was to be as competitive as possible even against the "big boys"...not just the companies my size. I do not understand being content with being SWAC good.
 
When I saw a sectional sofa on the sideline of the Superdome one year at the Bayou Classic, I knew then that SWAC football had been hi-jacked by a bunch of dummies. Eddie Robinson tried to stop the foolishness before he was forced out, but by then it was too late. The MEAC is not too far ahead of us with its ESPN sexual intellect/politician.

Hmmm this sounds like something I've been saying for years.

HBU recruits the best available players and coaches. Not just the best available Black coaches and athletes. That single factor offers a clear advantage to those institutions
 
I know some will think this is smack but it's not. I think TXSU should have hired Anthony Jones when he left AAMU. I mean look Jones is not a world beater, but with the talent Texas has he would have turned your program into a winning program. If he could have gotten y'all back to back winning seasons of 7-4 with a 8-3 season here and there for seven or eight years it would change the program. Plus he does it the legit way. I mean he changed Normal. It had been years since we were constantly winning. Now we demand winning. That's why we hired Mannor. Plus he could have gotten better talent to come to TxSu versus what he had at AAMU. Just keeping it real.

Thanks but, I think TSU will be fine. You have to realize what the last decade has been. TSU is just one year away from having to show recruits a sanctions letter. Overall I believe this TSU team is miles ahead of the teams we have fielded in the last 8 years for sure.

TSU has been over matched largely due to scheduling. Conference play will be kinder to this team. I believe Coach McKinney is heading in the right direction. I think he needs to make some changes to the staff, but still doing the right things overall.

Let's see how the next 2-3 weeks go.

Your rant against A&M makes no sense.... It is dead wrong. UNA is 2-3 overall. They lost to us and to Montana and Jacksonville State. Presbyterian was not their first win...They had already beaten Western Illinois. You seems to imply that they were not good because of the losses. Both of those losses were to teams that have been consistently ranked nationally in recent years. In fact, Montana was ranked #23 and Jax State was #13. The Samford game was not as lopsided as the score indicated. We moved the ball consistently on them. Several times we were in the red zone and failed on downs or turnover. One turnover on downs was at the one-yard line. Also, we threw an interception near their end zone that was returned 95 yards for a touchdown. The yardage gained was about the same for both teams and we out rushed them. The main difference was they were efficient at scoring and we were not.

I don't think TSU presents the same problems as Samford or UNA.

That's not seen as smack from our end. You have been consistent over the years about what Jones could have done at my TSU.

Even while we were a penalized program, which recently ended, I believe he would have done a better job than Asberry and definitely much better than Haywood.

It doesn't show in an obvious way right now, but McKinney is taking the football program in the right direction. It could show sometime this year or we might have to wait for next season.
 



I believe TxSUs schedule was strategically created to prepare them for the conference. We need to improve on defense but at the same time, look at the teams we've been playing.
