Texas Southern (TSU) Football

College football in Houston, will suffer as this is a Professional Football town.

This is the first season since '95 that Houston has had a professional football team. The games are on Sunday and the stadium only holds 69,000.

The quote is highlighted and you still fail to understand it.

Houston is a Professional Sports Town. All College programs,
suffer as the result of this.

Hopefully, you will understand this.

It has a retractable roof and it does not leak.

Well explain why all those Aggie fans from Houston are in College Station every week. The majority of their fans come from the Houston area. Your attandance sucks because your teams suck.

Houston is a "front-running" city. Ask the Rockets. The Comets average better attendance than the Rockets because they win.

He Can't.... PERIOD!:bawling:

Your attandance sucks because your teams suck.

The TRUTH!:nod2:

Note to East Tex Tiger & Hurd:

You are talking to complete asinine posters who'll never get it. They only love to be argumentative, antagonists and adversaries who for the life of them will never concede to your rationalization.

In otherwords, don't even try to give a logical explanation. We have been down this beaten path once too many times with folks who come from a college atmosphere where no professional teams exist and college athletics reign supreme.

Hurd, I wish you would have consulted with me first so I could "enlighten" you on some of these posters around here. But don't give up!!!

Some people come to Houston after they graduate (coming from a strong or somewhat decent collegiate town base) and just think if a city is over 4 million people that it is a "no brainer" that we should be head and shoulders above the other nine institutions in the SWAC to be attendance leaders when they have no clue of the political restraints such as the "Permanent University Fund" that has been in place that opposes and oppresses anything we attempt to do. Neither the fact that the state of Texas does not support college athletics. It is up to the university itself to build and construct athletic venues, etc.

Stop making excuses. When your beloved Texas Southern University TIGER Football team had an unblemished record back in 2000, there were 3 times as many fans attending your home and away games because you were winning.....PERIOD! Once you lost to Gram and then to your SUperiors, it was all down hill.

By the way, when you school East Tx Tiger and Hurd in your forum, Please tell them that we still smack on the Ocean that Stole too.

I remember in 2000 when they were like 7-0 the stands were packed for Valley!! Then in 2001 when they sucked they couldn't draw flies even for the Bama State game. Bama fans outnumbered tSU fans that game. Notice I'm not bringing up the PV and SU games.

That game was the George Foreman Classic and most of the people that was there got free tickets and a T-shirt for attending. I still have my shirt in the drawer and I've never worn it. Matter of fact I got 2 shirts and gave 1 to my mom. :D

But I will say that Houston is a fair weather town and competition for the entertainment dollar is extremely high. With so many outlets to spend your money you have to have a program that will attract the people to your venue. Winning will not do it alone, you have to hook em up with something. Look at Rice, they were 8-3 last year and still can't fill half of their stadium unless they are playing UT, TAMU or some other big 1 school. And the only way Rice/UH can come close to beating the attendance of the PV-TSU game on Labor Day Weekend is too make specials give aways and price discounts. Again this year the LDC and the Bayou Bucket are going against eachother for the almighty dollar and now we're both competing against the Texans for it too on this weekend.

You are not making an apples to apples comparison between the two universities.

Texas A&M has been built on a strong financial foundation/base of politians who have over the decades "gamed" the system and have had a strong and loyal following of alumni and financial supporters since the early 1900's. The state of Texas always have and always will look out for their "flagship" universities.

Do some research, find out what the Permanent Univeristy Fund (PUF) is all about.

It is all about economics. How can we compete against a university (Texas A&M an UT) that has always had an unfair advantage over us?

Let me try this once again...I have to remember it's a SU grad. TSU is barely 55 years old and Texas A&M is over a century old. TSU highest enrollment has been near 11,000. Texas A&M has an enrollment of 48,000. Texas A&M is located in a college town TSU in a big city. Most of A&M students lived on campus. Most TSU students live off campus. You do the math. There are many A&M alumni in the area with lots of disposable income and it is very likely that they have friends or kids attending A&M,so it is an opportunity to visit.

Anything else you need to know?

They also admit a lot of foreign students also. Those students are only concerned with education and money. Once they leave campus they are gone.

also, SU people fail to admit that they force their students to attend the game. I remember on several occasions that RA's would lock the dorms during the game.

In addition, Baton Rouge has no high schools game on Saturday night and majority of their black folks are not associated with LSU and if they want somehting to do they go to LSU.

Okay that was a low-blow. I am not going to bring up the fact that SU's band did not want to be outpalyed by PV, so they started a brawl that made national news. So, don't try to look like Mother Teresa!

ROTFLOL.... Dude, PV's band sounds like a muffled boombox manufactured by Gold Star.
