Texas Southern starts new College Football Classic

The only year I went to that, TSU merged three games into one. It was the Tiger Paw Classic/TSU Homecoming/Southern Game at Robertson.

TSU also had a one year game in Galveston,TX called the Island Classic. It wasnt well planned at all.

I am trying to remeber from last year if that is what they called it....... It was not a classic with that crowd at that game..... I think we had more people at the game than TSU did...............My opinion and I am not going to debate it.......... I don't remeber them calling the game agaisnt SU that but I'll take your word...

Can I ask you a question, a serious question? How many times have you mentioned in a post where you said that your alma mater Prairie View didn't plan a game well? Saucer... plate... white?

Hell he's right.... Otherwise they wouldn't have been invited. Looking at that area of texas, I believe Grambling might be more known than Texas Southern. Its a good move to capitalize on that.

Now what does PV have to do with this? For what its worth, PV has a stadium. That eliminates the need to take the show on the road over on the east texas chitlin circuit. Beaumont...Longview....whats next, Jasper? Aside from the UAPB game from a couple of years ago, I have no issues with how our home games are handled. I'm not turning this into a PV vs. tsu thing. I've probably gone to more tsu athletic events than your own graduates. This is just my perception.

In this instance, it was ridiculous for TSU to play in a stadium in Galveston,TX that was nothing more than a hellhole. If you were there then you would know that no college had any business playing in that high school stadium. It cheapens your product. If your administrators would have done any research, they would've realized that.
 
Grambling is well-known. Grambling is a household name in BCF due to Coach Eddie Robinison and Doug Smith. GSU's band exposure is a result of this. I'm not taking anything from GSU as it relates to that.


BUT,

That does not mean that GSU's band is better than the "Ocean." So, by inviting GSU's band or whatever, those in that East Texas town that have not had the opportunity to hear the "Ocean" will soon know. So, if it's GSU's band that's the big draw, then after the battle of the bands, the town goes home.

That will not happen, if fact they would stay to hear the Ocean again and call their friends and neighbors to come to the game to hear the "Ocean" as well.
