But folks would be super pissed if an "outside" person comes and trashes the schools and the student-athletes ...

Charles getting in the UH sweepstakes and Fobbs in the running for the UL-Lafayette job are good things for the conference. It shows that we still have quality folks at our schools that can possibly advance. It shows that we still are in the business of creating opportunities.
 
Our A.D.’s are magicians. They field teams utilizing smoke & mirrors. We have a limited amount of Alums that donate any funds to our various Athletic programs. Most of our schools Athletic budgets are just enough to barely survive. An A.D. from the SWAC with the resources from a power 5 school would reach heights that no one would have ever expected.

Some folks can’t seem to get that. Folks that’s at P5 schools would come to the SWAC and couldn’t function.

No, it shows that we want others to pay our way.

We want othersto come in an build us a stadium. We have Alums that have money, they just do not care enough to give any of it back.

We are in the excuse business.

This is not the type of position that you apply for.

I was just about to post that. CMac did wonders cleaning up the mess that Blackwell, Cole and to put it lightly, years of incompetence created at my alma mater. I would hate to see him leave because of the leadership and stability he has provided, but Charles deserves it and his resume proves it. I am sure he has made some friends and supporters serving on multiple NCAA committees. I hope he gets a fair shot, but I pray Dr. Lane is preparing to make some preliminary calls now to some credible hires just in case this happens now or in the immediate future.

1000 Alumni at 1000.00 a year would solve most of our problems. A group of us last year decided to do this. We only have 990 to go. That is incorrect because we are in year two.

We can't get 1000 of our Alumni to give 1/4 of that to our schools or our Alumni Associations but will cry foul when something happens and ask where is our Alumni Association when something goes wrong at our schools.

My wife and I were talking about this on the commute. Some of us will wear $1,000 in clothing to a game, but complain about not getting in free or hooked up.

This job is open because the U of H current AD moved on up to the EAST Side from UH of American Conference to the Southeast Conference that doubles his athletic budget and probably doubles his salary. This is the American way. For Charles to better himself and his family i would be selfish to want to hold him back. Let rejoice for this opportunity. I would hate to lose him however.
