TBF,
First of all, Jerry doesn't own the stadium, the city of Arlington does. Jerry simply agreed to lease it for 8 Sundays out of the year for the next 30 years. The city of Arlington has to find a way to occupy the stadium the remaining 357 days.
Secondly, I said the first 2 schools that play there will have the upper hand. I didn't say the first two SWAC schools. Texas and OU have pressured the city of Dallas to the point there is nothing else they can do to make them happy. The will be out of the Cotton Bowl in a few years, not to say they will play in Arlington because there is talk of them playing each other at home. Texas Tech and A&M will definitely play there (Arlington). If both Tech/A&M and UT/OU play in Arlington, there is no hope for anything at the Cotton Bowl, because there is nothing in it for the city of Dallas. Basically there is nothing in it for the city now as far as the State Fair Classic is concerned because we are not leaving money in Dallas like UT/OU.
How did 25K show up for the UAPB/TSU game in 1996 on the same day as the UT/OU game if it is so hard for anyone to compete with Al?
Personally, I would not want to see more than on HBCU game in Dallas. I think its good for HBCU football that GSU/PVU game is the only one here. It brings out every HBCU alumni to the game, even if they didn't attend either school.
My point is the game better looking into being played in Arlington when the Cowboy stadium opens. You can't compare the best arena on the face of the earth to the Cotton Bowl.
