TCU's Printers will transfer (to FAMU, SU, GSU?)

I don't think we are being told the real story. What is really going on?

TSU/BAMA,

Would you feel better if he mentioned schools like Sam Houston State, Northwestern, and Georgia Southern? This has nothing to to with him wanting to re-connect with his African-American roots. His reason's are pretty self-explainatory.

Printers said his decision had nothing to do with Patterson, offensive coordinator Mike Schultz or any of his teammates. He said TCU's offense, which mixes the option with rollout passing schemes, is not suited to prepare him for the NFL.

"I'm looking for, I guess, a variety of passes to throw," he said. "A pro-style system in which I can grow and develop as if I were an actual pro quarterback. Their schemes are not suited for what I want to do."

The schools listed by Printers run wide-open offenses and will enable him to play this fall and not have to sit out a season, as would be the case if he were to transfer to a Division I-A school.

What more of a reason do you want. He and his mother admit that there are some other internal issues that have been on-going within the program. Just before Dennis Francione(sp) left, there was an internal investigation conducted by the TCU athletic department concerning some racial remarks that some of the black players reported were made by the some of the coaches. So maybe that has something to do with is as well.

My apology, IF I OFFENDED ANYONE.

I like what MikeB said:

"IF he transfers to Grambling, he will be allowed to compete for a position. We already have some good qb's in camp, so it will be tough for him to crack the starting lineup."

That's what I'am talking about. "He will be allowed to compete for a position"

I am not familiar with Gram's, team for the upcoming season. But, knowing Doug, he is not holding his breath for a D1A transfer to help the GMen.

Our HBCU already have great talent.

There is no hate here. I am sure I know more about the SWAC than you do. Like I said "Just Asking"

*dez mofos*????

meaning ?

I think it's a good move on his part to transfer now so that he can particpate in Spring training. That gives him a chance to become better acquainted with his new teammates and also the offense.

I certainly wish him well... this is a bold step for sure. I hope he has a banner year and serves as an example to "other" high school blue chippers when they make their decisions!

The mere fact that this young man would mention Bama State as a possible school of choice speaks well for the ASU program. The Cole brothers are really producing quality players and are sending players to the pro's.

Never count L.C. out. I know Gram would love to have him, but I think Eugene is the future for them. A one season qb would only set Eugene back.
Bama State is the best fit for this kid because Cole believes in one season wonders.

If he does enroll in an HBCU (I am still holding my breath.), we can't let this story do the public relations work by itself. We, grads and administrators, will have to do some work in getting this kids into our schools too. Even with Michael Strahan, Steve McNair, Avery Johnson, Jimmy Smith and Jackie Slater (being inducted into the Hall of Fame last year), it is not nearly enough. Many kids still want to attend the big schools.

This will help open more eyes. I never said him going to a black college is going to shake up the world. But, it is going to get some kids to thinking if he moved (All-American). Maybe I should at least consider them from the beginning. The brainwashing still exist. This just gives alumni recruiters and supporters more positive information to recruit with.

You've hit the nail on the head. We are talking the same language. so, everyone, let's get busy if you aren't already. Recruit the best into our schools and stop settle for letting them go elsewhere without knowing our facts. If a kid or parent talks to me and the kids still doesn't go to an HBCU, it wasn't because they didn't have the information. At that point, I'm at peace. The kid and parent has to deal with their decision. If they chose and HBCU, especially SU, my interest and support is still there. In the case of those like Printers, I'm here to do what I can to help them make a good HBCU decision after the fact.

I just believe the facts of my HBCU are enough to impress any smart and/or talented kid. If it doesn't, I just don't think they are our type of kids anyway. It is up to us to recruit everyone of them that is our type of kid.

PEACE!!!

Unless some crazy stuff happens, he will play were ever he goes. It would be A GREAT injustice and shame if any of our schools convinces this kid to come to their school and don't play him and give him a chance to make it to the pros through his team performance.

I know we already have great talent. They are getting drafted. Don't you want more talent? Do you mean to tell me that you wouldn't be happy if all of the black on LSU's team was playing at GSU; on Texas was at Texas; on Miami was at FAMU; on North Carolina was at NCA&T; Maryland was Morgan State; Tenn was at Tenn State; Alabama was at Bama State?

This is a positive my people. Don't force it to be a negative.

PEACE!!!

Why are yall getting so excited over a parental one-year fix? I don?t know your school QB situation, but I would rather start a QB that?s a junior with similar skills than to have the TCU QB come in and play his senior year and start another senior the following year.

I didn?t get a chance to see the TCU QB play much, but I did listen to their bowl game against Texas A&M. If he plays anything like he did against A&M, yall can have him. He committed all kind of QB sins (throwing off his back foot, under throwing receivers, and throwing into double coverage). He threw four interceptions in the game.

I really wish I could express my feelings more clearly to you but I can't. I don't know what else to tell you. What I said is the way I feel about this situation. I am sure you have read some of the other posts, so you must know I am not the only one who question this move. Maybe, I put my feelings in different words than the others, but I think we are on the same page.

Also, If you haven't already, read TEXAS SOUTHERN FAN's post. I thought he made some excellent points.

Doesn't sound like TxSU could use his talents... Oh well...

don't worry, they got 3 redshirts and one sophomore to be coming back next year along with something else.

He would not solve problems

To be honest with you. TSU has received several UT Knoxville transfers football and basket ball. The basketball player turned out to be ok. The Fb players has all been a joke. last season a cb/db transfered to TSU. He was one of the top players in inTexas at his position, a blue chipper, parade all american {Kazee}. He like the other 7-8 players from UTK ended up dropping out of school because they had to go to class and could not make the GPA.

I can not speak for any other HBCU. But, TSU has always recruited the best - all of them did not end up at TSU. We recruited John Henderson {UTK}. We recruited a number of of players from Memphis, Nashville and throught the state - that are now part of UTK. Recruiting is only part of the problem with HBCU's. Most need facilities, marketing and need to be more professional when dealing with players. I have to admit playing in Adelphia, has helped our program. No harm intended But GRAM, FAMU, JSU and TN State has well known programs, because of our tradition. Therefore, we do not have a problem with recruiting or attracting the attention of "the best high school football player" If you look at the history of D1A transfers - most of them transfer to one of those schools.

To list a few problems that hut our recruiting efforts.

We have to market our SCHOOLS. We have lazy administrators running our schools, out public relations dept. is a joke, we waite to the last min. to recruit a player, visibility in the community, alumni only show up during homecoming, lack of support fromt he alumni. Believe it or not 80% of the white kids in Nashville want to play for UTK - Why, it is taught to them from day one. Their parents rasie them on UTK - the only college football theywatch is UTK.

We have had a lot of D1A QB transfers - Murray, Irby and one from Memphis State. Trust me it takes a complete season a new offense {all plays} scheme. Unless, you total offense playbook consist of 3-5 plays.

You understand, what I am saying.

Just to show you that this will start happening more often than not:http://www.tennessean.com/sports/tsu/

Please look at "TSU hopes to add "SUGAR" to offense.

Most of the time these recruits are pointed in the wrong direction. Maybe we will see where the majority of "blue-chippers" will start careers with HBCU's.

Sugar,

Maybe headed to TN ST {Grad School} Believe me, he will have to earn playing time. According to family members in Memphis, he is a good RB and will be welcomed @ TSU.

TN St Crop of freshman RB

Charles Anthony - 5'10 - 185: Senior Yr. 205 carries, 1379 yds.
DeWayne Spearman - 6'0 - 195
Adam Lindsay RB / FB - 5'11 - 230
Ricki Gibbs - 6'0 - 230
Julius Lee - 6'4 - 220

He could be doing this......

It didn't make sense to me for him to play three years at TCU and then decide to leave. But he is, so be it. But he may not be about to do what you guys think he's about to do.

He could very well transfer to Grambling, and I'm sure Doug would be glad to have him. But Printers may switch positions and be a flanker or slot receiver. Think about it. Who makes the best receivers? Quarterbacks. They know the routes. They know the timing. All he would is the speed and the hands. And TCU ran several plays during the season where he lined up in the slot and went out in the flat and caught a pass, do it's not far-fetched. And the pass-happy SWAC does have a reputation for producing wide receivers in the NFL. He sould very easily come to Grambling and establish himself as a decent receiver, and probably get drafted in the lower rounds. And his QB skills may be good enough to run the scout-team on the pro-level.

If Green Bay could draft Corey Bradford out of JState after playing one full season, why couldn't Printers get drafted?

I don't think he's transferring just to be a QB again. But we'll see. I hope he makes it at Grambling, or wherever he goes..I wish him luck. He'll need it.

I almost made that mistake. I lived in Desoto all through high school, but I chose to go to Carter, because I wanted to march in a black marching band.

It's a-lot of kids around the suburbs that never get a chance to see any HBCU's at their high school's college days. They never really get a chance to get fully exposed to they're already in college.

i PLAYED AGAINAST THEN MAN IN HIGHSCHOOL AND WENT TO MY FIRST SCHOOL WITH HIS COUSIN....HE HAS WANTED TO GP TO A BLACK SCHOOL SINCE HE WENT TO THE COTTON BOWL CLASSIC BACK IN 97, BUT WE ARE IN THE CITY AND WE REALLY DONT GET RECRUITED TO MUCH BY THE BLACK SCHOOLS IN THE DALLAS ARE..................HE'S GOING TO GRAMBLING AND I AM GLAD WE DONT HAVE TO PLAY THEM NEXY SEASON...THAT IS UNTIL THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME....

Well, I am glad to see that I am not the only one who feels this way.

Wow... I don't think he's going to SU, but that has nothing to do with my opinion of him transfering to an HBCU. The kid was lied to out of high school and told they would be running a wide open passing offense and that is what he wanted to do. His coach left for Alabama the first year. The next coach was very clear the offense would be run base to feature a Heisman candidate. So, he wouldn't get to throw again. He wanted to leave after his coach went to Alabama, but he was convinced to not be hasty and hang in there (patients paying off). Well, after the second year which featured a Heisman RB candidate, he expected to finally get his chance to get the passing offense he was promised out of high school. Coordinator changed again and they kept the conservative running game strategy. So, he is frustrated. He feels he is pro material and could very well be. Of course the TCU folks are treating him like a traitor, because isn't positive for their image. We have a talented kid, who is taking care of the books, not getting what he was convince he would be doing, finally deciding to go to our school (an HBCU), and we find all of these reasons to bash and be negative about it.

Hey, everybody was as fortunate or wise as we were to go to the best school for us (an HBCU) from the jump. Yeah, he could be selfish in wanting to be somewhere he can throw a lot to get stats that impress scouts and show he has the skills to become a solid pro QB. This isn't to say SU or any other school doesn't already have All-Americans on our squads. But, what's wrong with one more coming after their Freshman, sophomore or Junior year? He'll get an HBCU education. He'll get HBCU athletic preparation. He'll become an HBCU graduate. Those he is late in doing so, that still means he is cool with me, as long as he doesn't go in acting like he should be treated different than the rest of the team.

I think we can be too critical sometimes. But, hey, whatever works for you...

PEACE!!!

VALLEY IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME...YEAH RIGHT!!!!!

 I feel where you are coming from with this, but I disagree. His whole reason for transfering is to show off his passing skills and his abilities at the QB position so he can get his shot in the League. I really don't see this scenario happening.
