"If a bad word is not used to threaten, but rather to emphasize a point ... the student would receive an in-school suspension on the first offense," McKee said. "Societal standards have changed dramatically regarding acceptable language. If our policies do not change with societal standards, we set up our students for failure."

Students have been told to model their choice of words on television newscasts.

The newscasters improvise without using profanity, McKee said.

"It's the only place where they work to have language that's acceptable to all," McKee said.


I stopped my executive manager in corporate America from cussing by refusing to stay on confernce calls when he did it. He knew it was unprofessional and so did I. Newscasts ARE NOT the only place for acceptable language.

Hey Nita,

Has any of your 6th graders ever cussed you? I hear they're awfully hard to handle at that age. What is school policy these days?
 
1. Yes I do.
2. Somewhere around 5th or 6th grade.
3. Heard family, but really learned from the kids at school.
4. I try not to use profanity but sometimes it slips out before I can even stop it.
5. Probabl the F-bomb.

4) Its a horrible habit and shows lack of imagination to use other words
5) MFer (I was talking on the phone with my Mama and was talking bout this lazy broad at work and I call the coworker a MFer)

That was only the 2nd time I had did it and I said "IM Sorry Mama" before I got the "ucker" part out. Had to catch myself.

Had a teacher once that cussing limits the vocabulary. I never paid her words any attention until I begin to noticed just how much I depended on profanity to express my feelings. I actually would catch myself searching for a word to use and the only thing that I could find was profanity.

3. Who taught you? uncles (heard them cussing all the time and I picked up their bad habits.)
4. Do you consider it ok? no (I've been taught that using profanity is a lack of good vocabulary.)
