I agree, SU nor Valley should go to the tourney....same as in basketball. However, the conference set a (terrible) precedence last year when every team was invited to the basketball tourney. So why would su and Valley be allowed to play in a tournament they're not eligible for....again?Too bad PB's not eligible cause they're having one of their best seasons in a long time.
With 2 teams not eligible for the auto bid from the west, do you think the SWAC should eliminate the East/West Division and play everyone like in basketball?Who's not eligible for the tournament?
I don't. I like the way some of the East teams are scheduling early in the season with big name teams which pay for our travel. Since the season has been shortened, the SWAC only has 2-3 weekends before conference starts. I like our schools playing OOC games and winning a few. By doing so, we strengthen our conference RPI. And we need to stop scheduling D2 games, regardless of travel distance and/or competiveness. No, just give the highest seeded team(s) a bye.
I don't think the travelling budgets of some schools would be able to handle it for baseball because it brings in little revenue.
I wouldn't mind seeing a preseason SWAC tournament pitting the East teams against the West with each team playing at least two games apiece.
Yep!Great that Southern is turning things around...3 and whatever they were is not SU baseball. Any other team in the SWAC can do that in my opinion, except for SU because of their history.
