@SUjagTILLiDIE , Like everyone was trying to tell you the ball should've been placed at the 1-yard line.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced the suspension of the on-field officiating crew following last weekend's Alabama State-Prairie View A&M game on Saturday, October 8.

The announcement follows the league's thorough review of the game footage.

SWAC Coordinator of Officials Harold Mitchell handed the entire officiating crew a one-game suspension to be enforced during Week 8.

The error occurred during the first overtime period in which the officials awarded Prairie View A&M a touchdown on a 13-yard run. During the run, the ball carrier fumbled the ball, stepped out of bounds and then recovered the ball while it was still in the field of play prior to re-establishing his position in the field of play.

After review, the ball should have been placed at the one-yard line where the player first recovered the ball while out of bounds resulting in a dead ball and a first-and-goal.

“This entire crew accepts responsibility for each play. We have taken this action because there must be accountability in our officiating program," SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp said. "Our member institutions expect the highest level of officiating and it is the responsibility of the conference office to make sure those expectations are met."

Out @ the one yard line. Horrible call but there was so much going on in that particular corner that it required at least 2 refs to have an eyeball on that play.

I thought they were going to call illegal touching on the back. Didn't the back get knocked out of bounds as he fumbled, but was the first person to touch the ball?

Someone please clarify for me.

When I watched the game, I saw what happened. I just thought the illegal touching penalty would've been called. The TV guys clearly stated the ball should've been on the one. They also asked about illegal touching, since the guy the fumbled the ball did not re-establish position before touching the ball.

That's all I was asking. It still should've been PV's ball. I just thought that the refs could've called illegal touching, if that penalty was in play in that situation.

He was still out of bounds when he touched it. Illegal touching requires him to go out then reestablish himself inbounds before being the first to touch the ball.

As stated earlier in discussion the illegal touching applies to a forward pass and kickoffs.

C'mon man! Lol! I'm a Canes fan and that hurts! Lol! That's different. Ohio State was awarded with another series of downs.

1. PV got 1st possession in OT (meaning Bama State would get a possession either way)
2. The PV RB gained 13 yards on a 1st down and then fumbled, stepped out of bounds, and retrieved his fumble (with his foot out) at the 1-yard line
3. It should now be 1st-and-goal Prairie View from the 1-yard line. Still 4 more downs.
4. The ref awarded us a TD and we make the XP.
5. Bama State now gets their overtime possession and has 4 downs to either tie the game or win the game with a 2-point conversion.
6. Bama State called a running play for 1-yard on 1st down, and incomplete pass on 2nd down, and they were sacked on 3rd and 4th down.
7. Game over.

So, Bama State had their chance to score. In your
