I just read the article posted........wow! I didn't think Coach Comegy would have to pay like this.

But this is what really had me :no:

SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp said, “While the Conference office understands that Coach Comegy was leaving the field after a very competitive game and that emotional outbursts sometimes occur, the Conference office cannot condone this type of behavior. The integrity of Southwestern Athletic Conference is something we cannot compromise.â€￾

All I can say is "WOW"!

I thought Coach Comegy would get a reprimand it would rest at that. I'm siding with Coach Comegy, but these doggone officials have too much authority.......first it's the bad calls and/or no-calls, now you basically can't have a voice on how badly they SUCK OUT LOUD at what they do! :|
 
Since Sharp says we hold everybody else in the SWAC to a high standard, how about we suspend the whole SWAC office and make them pay a fine for being useless and sorry. :tup: Fair is fair, don't you think. The SWAC office is more embarrassing.

ummm people, what planet do yall live on that yall didnt see this (or more) coming? This aint the first time a coach has been suspended for this. In the past, the SWAC has suspended women's bball coaches for criticizing the refs and what they said didnt come close to that comegy outburst.

Nothing mentioned about holding the conference officials to the "highest standards". And he had the nerve to use the words "credibility" and "professionalism".......2 things these doggone SWAC officials lack. I'm in no way siding with Coach Comegy, but hopefully this will trigger the SWAC to start looking at these refs! I can't speak for the remaining 9, but we've (UAPB) been having problems with these officials since we came back into the Conference back in 1997!

He was reprimanded. A public reprimand and fine were called for. A suspension is wayyy too far in my opinion. Coaches have gotten away with wayyy worse in the NCAA. He is not the first coach to curse on camera after a game. Hell, Bobby Knight did it for a living.
 
Man, I wasn't expecting a suspension. A fine? Yes. It's one thing to just go off on the refs during the game, but accuse them of cheating in the press was little much.

And coaches can submit officials evaluations (I think they might be paper or electronic) to the SWAC office. Coaches can also file a protest if they believe the outcome of a game was altered by an official's ruling or error.

The "suspension" is not a surprise to me. Why? In 2007 Comegy was fined for saying: "we're going into a hostile environment down at Southern so we have to be focused and ready to play".... :retard: So I KNEW when I heard the comments Saturday he'd be suspended...

My problem is this:

WHY DID YOU WAIT 96 HOURS TO MAKE A DAYUM DECISION... Did it REALLY take the SWAC four days to review ONE DAYUM SENTENCE!!!!?!?!?!?... that's bootleg, second rate... and quite frankly as "unprofessional" as they come commissioner. smh at our backwards conference.... This is trash.... late, bush league and sorry.

Wow, that seems waaay too harsh, what will they gain by doing that. Did Sharp hear the outburst himself?

EXACTLLLY!!! Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and pretty much all of Wednesday has passed, and #NOW a statement??? Reallly SWAC?? You suspend him and THEN fine him?? Really, what is the money going to?? hmmm..#smh.

If I was Comegy, I wouldn't participate in the conference call on Monday...neither would any of my coaches. I ain't there... WE have nothing more to say. #sadcaseforaconference
 
why shouldn't he have been suspended, if other swac coaches have also been suspended for criticizing the refs, and theirs werent nearly as profane and direct as what Comegy said?
 
Dayum man it wasn't THAT serious. They worrying about the wrong shat. Do they plan to suspend any refs? :shame:
 
For all of you that think it was to harsh, Id like you to give me one incident in college sports, D1 football or any other sport, that any coach critizie the refs in such a manner and use vucarity as if he was on the corner of lynch st ,towards them and they weren't both fined and suspended.

SMH @ a $1,000, I would have hit his ass up for 5G's
