Why should the worst teams get in? And what fanbase is going to really miss out on seeing them play in Bham? lolI understand it… why would you turn down a fan base? Also more people can prepare to go to the tournament…instead of waiting until the last game of the season .
The tournament is in Atlanta…. Where every schools has an alumni chapter….Why should the worst teams get in? And what fanbase is going to really miss out on seeing them play in Bham? lol
I don't think the success of the SWAC tournament hinges on whether the Miss. Valley State fanbase is there. Do you think those folks gonna be upset they can't watch a team that literally won 1 game last year? There are 50,000 other things to do in Atlanta. The tournament is in Atlanta…. All seven of em, huh?Not so much upset… but for the Valley alums in Atlanta… they would show up to see their team play for the simple fact that they are in their area and they may not get to make it to too many home games. Also gives the 1 and possibly 2 seed a bye which they deserve.
Grambling a 14 seed? Grambling lost 15 games with no D1 out of conference wins…They were nowhere close to a 14 seed… In comparison Samford lost 5 regular season games and was a 13 seed… and they ran through the SWAC.Comparing the SWAC to Power 5 conferences is an unfair comparison. Those conferences have at least 6 teams with a RPI high enough to make the NCAA 64. The SWAC is one of the worst basketball conferences and currently only sending 1 team as a 16th or play in seed.
We need to stop rewarding dismal basketball teams in our conference to hopefully force them to stop scheduling tons of unwinnable games. They are using basketball money games to make the bulk of their athletic budget and it hurts the RPI of the entire conference.
In the end, our champion pays for it with a horrible seed. Last year, GSU was probably a 14th seed in several other conferences.
All decisions made by the conference should be with an intent to elevate the entire conference.
He is talking about the 23 team which went 24-9 with multiple P5 D1 and Mid-Major wins. We lost in the tournament, but had we made it we would have been a 15 seed at minimum.Grambling a 14 seed?
