SWAC Spring Football Coaches Press Conference - Week 4


Man I love it! 🤣 Its hard to look at the mirror and realize that maybe all this time, we (HBCUs) were the problem with our complacency and normalization of mediocrity! This is the first stage of your therapy Donald--if you are reading this!

Realize that our bubble that we have been living in for some decades is about to get vaporized for the world to see! Both good and bad will have a light shun upon it. I hope you get prepared for the possible collateral damage!

Do better! Make excellence your norm! Call out the shenanigans when you see it! Love regardless and give credit where its due! Accept what is and keep it moving!

And know through it all, here at JSU we view it as JSU vs Erebody! :cool:

One day, y’all will see and live everything this man is saying and beyond. Change is always hard at first and will have an abundance of push back from those that are complacent in their “norms”. Just know, we (JSU) tried to told you! 😂

Who are you/we trying to impress? Seriously? Who? Do we get trinkets for adhering to these unwritten standards?

ASU is full of non swac grads over there in leadership roles So can’t blame it on swac

His detractors and most rabid blue tiger supporters can be mad annoying. This article was a lesson in collard greens and shiny shoe ish talk.
 
There are various Covid protocols across the board for each school - such as Alabama State not selling individual game tickets and selling only season ticket packages, and this was for basketball as well as football (even though a very limited number of individual tickets were made available for the J-State game) not providing halftime stats, not allowing teams into the visiting locker rooms until game day - and I am sure there are others. These are the protocols that WE have in place for US - now how Jackson handles their game day during this time - that's Jackson, and how others operate, again each school is doing what they feel is best for their own situation. Aint nobody hustling tickets as he tried to cry about, and all this other madness. I respect him as a player, one of my top 5 all favorites, and I respect him as a coach and for what he is trying to accomplish - but at the same time aint nobody kissing his ring - to paraphrase Kansas City Mack in the great movie "Let's Do It Again", you got to bring ass to get ass. He is not above the Conference so show up on time, stop trying to preach to other grown men who doing the same thing you doing - just lead by example. How are you gonna tell somebody how to act or run their programs and you have won all of 3 games in a career? Don't change your swag about yourself, be you, but you can't be pissy if being you brings some get back. Take it, make a note of it, and keep moving forward.

You’re the only one worried about impressing someone. These are standards that we should have BEEN adhering too. Prime is the first and only Coach to speak up on it up until this point. Answer this: with everything we’ve done so far, how far have we gotten? This man has been to every level there is and know how to work and operate on every level. It’s quite apparent he wants us to operate at that same level so we can become accustomed to greater and better rather than the mediocrity we accept and expect.

Him being late is fair game but I’m quite sure you got a lot more than that from the call. You just don’t wanna talk about it because of who he represents and that’s ok lol

That wouldn't matter because all the coaches are slated for a certain time and you would have to just get on at that time.
 
Deion consistently being featured last on the Zoom call (not a big thing to me) could be related to him recording the 21st and Prime podcast. I think he normally does those on Mondays. Then that would be understandable if the SWAC and JSU worked something out where he could do his thing and still be part of the call. As long as he's there -- late or not -- is cool.

Water seeks its own level; either get there or continue to stick that claw out there clasping @ air, crab. I dreamed of a PV (football) return to power for a looooooooooooong time and the period of ushering in required change is here, and now.

The landscape around us has evolved tremendously over the last 10 years. Upstarts - iwu, tarleton st, acu, txa&m-commerce/tx wesleyan on the horizon, legacy now moved on sfa, shsu, lamar, and every so often uta threatens to do something football wise. I wouldn't be surprised if Lone Star CC doesn't attempt to sponsor football soon w/ their financial base in place and don't be surprised if unt-dallas starts movement in that southern Dallas corridor, what they always projected as a win for themself.
 
ASU said they provided the only stat that matters and they sent it through Andre Rison's office, too.

Er uh but uh....I get what he's saying about stats. Two things there, though: you don't have to tell us what we don't have and do that you saw as standard where you came from by complaining that we don't have it.
A. Get your own stats anyway if you don't
B. Ask
C. Maybe have an educated pow wow to tell black schools what they dont know and have been surviving while never being told or hinted.
We do without to sometimes not even know where or how to look. It isn't an excuse it's a reason. Dont diss us for never having it to give to you when you finally decided to make a Wakanda with us. Lol

Try that experiment where coach Prime announces beforehand that he won't make anymore zoom calls, mysteriously becomes unavailable for a few conference zooms, and lets see how that plays out w/ the media.

I would think any decent HBCU media coverage would want to cover the entire conference - all members, right? Or are they only interested in a onesie or twosie here or there?

The call order was initially designed for UAPB to go last. JSU asked UAPB for the time swap. UAPB agree.

That was my understanding.

I was poking fun of a few by being facetious but still, there is some truth found in my funny statements.
