SWAC releases all-conference football teams, postseason honors

I will never ever get SWAC logic when it comes to Valley and their selections

So the #1 tackler in the conference (Holloway (AAMU) is on the first team and the #3 tackler is on the 2nd team (Jones (TxSU)) but skip all over the #2 tackler like he doesn't exist

He's a senior next year along with Thompkins (#8 in tackles) so they'll just do it a year late like they usually do

So the conference leader in sacks — Southern's Jordan Lewis — doesn't get named Freshman of the Year or even get put on one of the All-SWAC teams?

Jordan Lewis led the SWAC with 12 sacks and is fifth in FCS in sacks per game; one blocked punt; two forced fumbles; one fumble recovery; one defensive TD

But the guy who's 28th in total tackles is the DPOY.......
Well, he's actually 25th in total tackles, but he also has 2 interceptions (one returned for a TD), 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. There is more to this than just tackles.

Kenn, you know this list is total BS. I hope it motivates my Jags this Saturday.

Jordan Lewis omission for something is absolutely crazy. Oh well he got 3 more years to wreck havoc after this season.

So it takes not getting an individual award to motivate folks. What if the player had made it? Would he now be less motivated to play hard? One doubts it.
Winning or losing won't change the results.

They've been playing hard already. smh

The way Alcorn played this year on offense and defense, their players deserve the honors they're receiving. Let's not take away from what their players did.
Their players didn't vote.

How many times have you heard players even in the NFL get MORE motivated when they are passed over in the draft, for awards etc. That's not saying they aint already motivated. But now you may have given them that extra boost. Tom Brady is a prime example on how he takes slights and goes out and kills it. LOL. You think Ohio State was not extra motivated to beat TSUN this past weekend after hearing how fast TSUN defense was supposed to be, and how they were going to get whooped or how much better they were supposed to be?

Whateva JR. Just know that there's a reason those players were given those awards. Keep that in mind too.

Nobody is trying to take anything away from Alcorn players. They weren't the ones folks had any argument about. But hell, a blind man could see Jordan Lewis deserved some type of recognition. That's all we are saying. So yeah if I am him, I play even harder to show those who didn't vote for him why they screwed up.

LOL @ TSUN

So you agree he should have been left off even second team defense? He deserved no recognition at all from the conference?

Did you not see the game he had against JSU? Or did you not go to BR this year? Just asking.

Jordan had two sacks and a scoop-and-score in the Jackson game.

I think folks are getting things mixed up. The WR from UAPB had a damn good season. But Jordan couldn't even be on second-team all conference when he stands to be a freshman All-America?

I’m not surprised, SU only had two kids on the preseason team...
It does speak well of Odums, his staff and players to accomplish so much with so little talent...
Have Mercy!!!!
Geaux Jags!!

Wow, No Jordan,

Dude is literally is a LT in the making. In the Classic he had a fumble recovery

Hell, From the QBs I've seen, Skelton played half a season and is the best QB in the conference by far, miles ahead of everybody else smh.
