It still don't matter... compare his stats to T Jackson!!!

Who had the better night?

Is it in the SWAC Policies and Procedures that one can not win the award on back to back weekends?

No way this kid should be defensive player of the week. He had 11 solo tackles because they were picking his arse apart. He's a corner. The SWAC office doesn't know jack about football. James Bell will fit in perfectly there. James Bell for new commissioner of the SWAC.

DGTM, I think that this is a case of where the two Valley players ended up costing each other POTW honors this week. Between Nelson and Jackson, Nelson had the better night. But I think that since Timmons was probably on the ballot as well, the Valley vote was probably split between the two.

I agree...those are impressive stats. Especially Timmons...listening to the game, he was unstoppable.

Now as for the Defensive POTW... How many of those 12 tackles were against the receiver he was defending? If someone catches 12 or more passes in your area (and it must have been his area since they were solo tackles) how does that make you defensive player of the week?

now u see what i'm saying, but folks claim that i'm being biased. Congrats to T. Jackson though because he did have a great game.

P.S. I think a better case could have been made for Pierre Marshall a defensive player of the week.

I would give it to Nelson. He did it against one of the better teams in the SWAC. Jackson was playing the sorriest team in the swac. Nelson had more competions and more yards and also ran for more yards.

The name I heard for SU (defensively) was some kid named Limon(sp) and Leggitt(sp). Gotta give it to the SU defense for putting their offense back in position to win. That pass rush was a beast in the second quarter!

Some folk attribute the loss to the corners/secondary giving up so many yards to Timmons. I don't agree with that completely... I think the lack of a consistent running game hurt more. Being able to burn time off the clock on offense does wonders for your pass rush and secondary legs for coverage.

i was telling them SU didn't have a running game last night

At 21-10, Vernon dropped the dagger in the back of the end-zone. Valley was ready to quit. Our defense played well in spurts. Timmons ran to open spot 6 yards off the line of scrimmage and sat in the open spot. Our defensive coordinator did nothing to stop this play for 2 quarters. After the 5 straight sacks in the 2nd quarter, Nelson did not attempt another pass outside the has marks. SU is going to be ok by the end of the season. But, I don't want anyone to look at this loss to Valley like its the beginning of the end. Or the beginning of Valley's championship run. It's neither.

There was no need for one. Valley had 8 men in box all night. SU had some effective runs, but the action was going to be through the pass.

that's a lie. Even when them boys were down, they still kept coming back. U lying about Nelson, becaause he was still carving up SU secondary in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Defensive schemes loss SU the game not the players. When you put your players in bad defensive position it is imposible for the to make a play. We will be straight. It took our offense awhile to get going. First game mistakes. Our Offense is going to be unstoppable.

bruh the legit fumble that put us back in the game is when #50 Jarrette Prout came around the corner and flattened Lewis and he coughed it up on the one yard line.

No, you giving your boy too much credit. You all we up 10-0 when the SU offensive and defense got on track in the second quarter. You all didn't get get the red zone again until the fumble by our quarter back gave you the ball at the one. And even that may not have been a fumble. So don't lie for your boy. And don't lie to yourself. Nelson had a good fourth quarter. Throwing to Timmons and an occasional pass to the big back out the backfield.

And since be being honest, you should enjoy this win. But we owned the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Mann you know like everyone in the stadium that his arm was going forward. Im not blamming the refs even though there were a lot of questionable calls. We should have put Valley away when we had a chance.

Please his arm was moving forward and you know it. You all also got a bullcrap fumble in the fourth quarter when our receiver was clearly on the ground. Now that you mentioned it, Timmons fumbled the ball after a hit and they called it an incomplete pass. You all won the game. Just leave it at that.
