SWAC Office: Can you create a Commish Cup details page for fans?

I guess you are asking that they update it more often because I simply typed in "SWAC Commissioner's Cup" and it took me right to it.

Yeah I saw that. I’m referring to a breakdown of the scoring of each individual sport per school. Other conferences provide that detail but not the SWAC.

They use to do that but have failed in providing championship to championship updates for several years now. It's very interesting to keep up with. Kind of a grade for athletic departments.

I wish all track counted for 1 sport… having points for indoor, outdoor and cross country means if you have a great track program you should be in the drivers seat for the commission cup.

Does anybody know the formula or has kept up with this year's points
You can find the latest totals at the link below. Unfortunately, the SWAC does not provide the scoring breakdown of each sport to public.

I was wondering if you receive points for regular season championships vs tournament championships.

KC 1400 posted a spreadsheet on their last show. Im not sure where it originated. I think they said it was on swac.org. Maybe we just have to know where to look to find it.

Regular season finishes in non division sports holds more weight - divisional sports the tourney finish has more impact
Agree! That's the reason I started this thread.... to hopefully receive some clarification from the SWAC.

Can you use your influence to get us some answers... lol

Congratulations Bama St! AlaSU IS the premiere athletic program in the conference, hence the recent dominance and consistency over the last duration.

To win the commish cup you HAVE to invest money in track… that counts for 6 different sports (M&W Indoor, outdoor and cross country). If you are good in track you will always be at the top.
Yep! That's how Southern won all of those Cups in the 90s.

It's one of the weakest sports for us right now. JSU also took a dip in baseball and soccer this year. And of course, we were in rebuilding mode in women's basketball which cost us a few points. I look for a better showing in a lot of sports next year.

The question is you want to invest a lot of money on a sport that isn’t going to generate anything just to say you won the Commish Cup?

track is a potential moneymaker if done right - takes investment but a major track meet twice a year brings in cash plus you can do summer events

NCAT hosts the junior olympics yearly - that's massive

Agree!

It is also one of the few sports that our teams can compete with the big boys if you sign only a couple of real good athletes.

Any SWAC team running a low 39 (4X100) or sub 10 (100m) will quickly bring prestige to their school and the conference for that matter.

Also, the amount of NIL money needed to sign those athletes is a lot less than football or basketball.
