SWAC hoops 2/26/07





We loose every game the same way, "Rebounding". We have no post players what so ever other than Trey and sometimes Maxey. When shots are taken there is never no one under the goal to get the offensive rebound but on the other end of the court we get out rebounded every time. UAPB drove to the inside every time and instead of our guys playing D they went for the steal and paid for it time after time after time again
 
This just shows how weak the conference is in basketball. Whoever is in first place should be blowing the competition out. There is no one standing out going into the tournament....Like they said on Jaguar Journal last night, a good coached S.U. team can take the tournament.

SU has beaten the top team (Valley and Jackson).

I sadly agree. Number 8 is about the same as Number 1 in this conference. Any team, including JSU, could win the tourney.
 
1. Mississippi Valley 12-5
2. Jackson St. 10-6
3. Texas Southern 9-7
4. Alcorn 9-7
5. UAPB 9-8
6. Grambling 8-8
7. Alabama St. 8-8
8. Southern 7-9
9. Prairie View 5-11
10. Alabama A&M 4-12

Pine Bluff, Alabama St., and Grambling just earned them a spot in the tournament. Prairie View & Southern are fighting for the last two spots. A Prairie View loss or a Southern win will automatically eliminate Prairie View and finalized the tournament.

Warmley UCKED that up... she kept telling them to foul KNOWING that we needed to lose by less than 7 for the tiebreaker.... BAD coaching. She kept sending PV to the free throw line at the end of the game when it was apparant we werent going to win. But the girls played good WITHOUT our starting point guard... she got 2 fouls in the first 3 minutes of the game and sat out the rest of the half.. second half picked up 2 more quick fouls and eventually fouled out...we only have one TRUE point guard so I knew we werent going to win without Malone on the court. We killed PV on the boards... and had 27 offensive rebounds (PV has no height) but you cant win games shooting 27% from the field.

mens game.... aint a point guard in the league that can stop freshman Trant Sampson.... I have seen every SWAC team play and havent seen anybody who can stick him.... he had 25 points, 10 assist and 7 rebounds...

Mickell backed up Saturdays record setting performance with 13 point and 13 blocked shots..

This season is over for us but we have a bright future with this freshman class... out of tonights game we had Freshman point guard score 25, freshman 2 guard score 20 and freshman post player score 13.

After seeing all the games on ESPNU, I would say number 10 is about the same as number 1. :scared:

You shole is right. And it wasn't like PB caught fire and started lighting it up. For whatever reason, late in the game, Jsu just shut down. (not to mention, the crazy shots) They could've easily won that game with Johnson.
and PB could've won by a bigger margin with Byrd.

After watching the SWAC games, the things that stand out are the questionable coaching decisions and the awful shooting. (especially early in the games). Most of our teams can't throw it in the ocean. :smh:

JSU's season is reminding me of the season AAMU had last year... very high expectations... not too good results.
