SWAC Football Coaches Teleconference - Spring Football

Hella impressed with Haywood's interview. He pretty much broke down everything they did in the Spring before questions even started lol. I also liked how he low key Checked the reporter about putting Griffin above the team LMAO. TSU might be on to something. If his past is any indication of his future coaching prowess then TSU should be an immediate contender.

A spring practice with a team that has a core of freshman was a big plus (especially at QB). How big of a jump can we make next year is the question. Everyone will be focused on Chambers but I think we'll be improved in other areas as well.

I also agree with Coemgy about Young. I was expecting much more from him last year and hope he can make it up this year

if you listened to the games, they all would jump on asberry for not doing anything with Derrick Griffin when last I checked he can't run the ball or play defense ....that's all people harped on....I know Haywood is tired of hearing that

Panth didn't know you guys lost that many seniors. I'm sure Simmons hit the Transfer route hard. What yall hiding over there?

We're very, very young, Nasty. We may have to revisit the redshirt class from last year this time to determine what's what and who's who.

Yea I heard him say something about 17 seniors are gone and y'all only had either 5 or 11 juniors (can't remember which one). Either way I'm SURE y'all brought in some transfers y'all are keeping quiet about with all the departing seniors, including Herbert. He did mention 3 rbs coming in the fall though.

I am just verifying.. But I know he will be a SR on the field. He is Dynamic though.

Yeah he sat out his true Freshman year in 2012 the year Stump got fired and Odums took over after the Valley game. So he had 5 years to do 4. When we played JSU in the SCG in 2013 he was a Freshman on the field. Same for Tillery. Pretty much the entire offense is back with Austin Howard being a true Jr and our big WR Randall Menard being a R-Jr. Odums has had to play young guys even in 2013. Now they are Jrs and Srs and even some Sophs as he had to rely on a few Freshmen on defense last year.

I guess we will have the same offense if Berry is sticking to the same schemes y'all used last year.

That recruiting was primarily because of Germany though, but look for some su folks to come on here and say that's not true.

Do y'all have similar personnel?

Yes, we have talent lacked coaching. In my opinion we threw the ball better but y'all ran the ball better (we actually didn't do much in the running game at all). What we didn't have was a do it all type of player like Quinn that was a threat to take it to the house at any time, but we will come Fall.

So why wasn't Chad able to flip any of SU's targets if it was because of him. Now I will say Chad is a excellent recruiter.
