SWAC expansion / Is it time?

With the low expectations from Valley, Alcorn, and TSU, is it time to expand the SWAC. No I am not asking about removing the 3 mentioned universities, they have their place.
TSU shear size and location
Alcorn history, potential and alumni support of small school
Valley (help me out on that one)

One, two or three added.
Tn State
Sav State
Albn State
Skegee
Mcneese
Sam Houston
SELA
Delta St
Jacksonville St
who and how many
 
AAMU Bama State TxSU and PV should be eliminated from the SWAC. In a perfect world, Tuskegee TnSU and a few other teams could be added.
 



My ideal solution would be for a new conference consisting of:
Alabama State
Alabama A&M
Albany State
BCC
FAMU
Fort Valley
Savannah State
Tennessee State
This new conference would be named the South Eastern Athletic Conference.
The SCG would be a thing of the past. The 3 conference champs and a wild-card team would then play for the Obama Cup on the 2nd and 3rd Saturday in December in some city other than Atlanta.

Advantages

  1. Each conference would be made up of 8 schools so with just a little bit of effort and cooperation between our AD's scheduling shouldn't be that big of a problem.
  2. Travel expense for schools and fans.
  3. Biggest rivalries can still continue and past ones can begin again.
  4. Greater flexability with scheduling. (You Louisiana people will be free to play with your white cousins)
  5. Tennessee State will be set free and football season for them will continue through November.
Disadvantages

  1. The loss of the automatic bids in other sports for the proposed SEAC Conference schools.
  2. The cost of moving the SWAC headquarters and establishing a SEAC headquarters.
  3. I would have to change my name to Enseaclopedia. It just doesen't have that same flow as my current name.
  4. Finding someone to create a new board.
  5. Establish a hatred for the othe SEAC schools and schooling them in the art of smacking.

Let's add new teams and directions to the mix besides the regular HBCU's.
How bout adding 2 of these teams.
Which 2 would you pick to make the SWAC a 12 member conference.

University of North Alabama
UNA operates a successful collegiate athletic program in NCAA Division II's Gulf South Conference. The North Alabama Lions football, men's basketball, and women's volleyball teams have each won national championships

Tuskegee
Tuskegee University football is longstanding as well. Among its records include: 27 SIAC championships; eight national HBCU championships; 70 winning seasons out of 113; 16 undefeated seasons; eight appearances in the Pioneer Bowl (championship match up between the SIAC and CIAA champs) in the bowl's 10 years of existence; 12 other postseason games not including the Pioneer Bowl;


Delta State
Three NCAA Women's Division II Basketball Championships
Delta State won the 2004 NCAA Division II national baseball championship.
Delta State won the 2000 NCAA Division II national football championship. Delta State's football team won the Gulf South Conference Championship in 2007 and 2008

Delta State has played and beat SFA 17-14, scored 27 point's in a 52-27 loss to McNeese last year, and was a touchdown away from beating San Houston state, and was one TD away from beating Texas state which was the school that posted 63 point's on Texas Southern.

Thought about that.
That would make it kind of hard to bring in teams that are used to competing in the post season.
Any team we bring in would have to make that decision.
 
Yup... Only Tuskegee fits prefectly... The other team would probably have a traditionally losing football program.

Tuskegee only has a god football program.. every other sport is way below average... and also their president doesnt have any plans to do anything with their stadium and has said that TU cannot afford to move up.
