Contrary to the opinion of the SWAC Women Coaches, I believe you will see the Lady Tigers from GSU in the Championship Game in Bham again in 2002. I base this on a few facts:
1. All five starters return to the team that played in the Championship Game against the seniors from Alcorn.
2. Two(2) were freshmen; Three(3) were sophomores.
3. All four(4) reserves(two juniors, one frosh, one soph.)return.
4. The predicted champion(Southern) was beaten two out of three times(by the Lady Tigers) including the semi-final game in Bham.
Only time will tell, however, every year Coach Ponton gets 110% from the ladies he puts out on the court. The job he did with the young team last year should have been a warning of things to come...... We'll see!!
