SWAC BBall Schedule - This Week W/ Scores

Dayum. I missed it completely. Who got that arse whooped in the fight?? I saw that 2 Memphis players were suspended and ine from Penut Butter.

PV has #8 Oklahoma on Saturday and Pine Bluff has #5 Pitt on Friday. Hopefully we will have decent showings, but I'm not expecting too much.

PB, don't bring that extra-curricular crap to the SWAC. The SWAC always fightin' somebody, but usually it is ourselves.

PB bball team was gettin they a$$ beat. Memphis had dudes in street clothes runnin on the floor. PB is KNOWN for fighting. They dont have any discipline. Last year at Elmore... they had a player swing on campus police for trying to escort him out of the game after he got ejected... he got DRUG out the gym by S.W.A.T.

MEMPHIS SUSPENDS TWO: Two Memphis players were suspended for their role in a brawl during a game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Guards Billy Richmond and Clyde Wade were suspended for one game. Wade will miss Tuesday's game against Arkansas-Little Rock. Richmond, a transfer from Vanderbilt, will miss the first game in which he is eligible to play. Richmond and Wade were ejected from the game Monday night, as were teammates Anthony Rice and Almamy Thiero. The fight began with 5:37 remaining in the first half during a scramble for a loose ball. Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Antwan Emsweller was underneath a pile as a melee ensued with several punches thrown. Emsweller, Lamarquis Blake and Don Fleming were ejected for Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Emsweller was suspended for a game by the NCAA.

I think PV will be one of the teams to run for the SWAC title this season besides Alabama A & M and Alcorn. So far this season they have given two Div. 1-A schools a run for their money.

There is no such thing as a Div. 1-A or 1-AA in college basketball. Oklahoma, University of Houston, Prairie View, Notre Dame, Arizona, UCLA and Duke are all in the same division.

With the EXTREMELY tall lineup they have, sombody should have stepped right in where she left off. There are two other 6'3 girls on Bama St team.

Great wins for both our men's and women's programs.

Billy Tubbs was not a happy camper leaving 3rd Ward last night.

Who cares what that basketball schedule is. Nobody gives a rats a- - about SWAC basketball.

If ya don't care about SWAC roundball it is because you don't have a good grasp on its history.

Most who take your view want to measure the SWAC by the number of players in the NBA. In response to that I merely point to the number of Kentucky Wildcats, Indiana Hoosiers, and Duke Blue Devils in the NBA. Despite the level of sustained success by such programs, not many of their players are in the NBA.

Playing basketball in any conference is really about the competition within the conference. It is absolutely FIERCE in the SWAC and always has been.

No, the SWAC generally does not fare well against the more formidable conferences. There are all kinds of reasons for that which will take up volumes of space in another forum. Just appreciate SWAC basketball for what it is: some of the most dogged competition in the NCAA between rivals. And, in the SWAC, EVERY OTHER INSTITUTION IN THE CONFERENCE is your rival.
