SWAC Basketball 2/20


Let's be clear about all this. That style of play isnt going to give anyone a hard time. Nobody, but themselves. There where not pick and rolls, no back door picks, no movement without the ball, etc.... Basically, no fundamentals. Just grab the ball and run down court and shoot. Dont care if your teammates are there or not. If they give you the 3, shoot it. If not, try to drive pass them. Once the teams in the tournament stop that mess, then you'll see if that coach can really coach. Right now, he's suspect and looks like any other coach in the SWAC that happens to luck their way upon some talent that can actually make a few shots in this conference.

Sorry DTGM, but I couldnt watch that Tx South and Valley game Monday night. I was trying, but couldnt. All I saw was players coming down jacking up shots. No set plays, no nothing. Just run and jack by both teams. If that is Woods coaching style, then he's on par with the rest of the SWAC coaches.

well I guess you didn't pay attention to Rick Pitino's Kentucky teams and John Calipari's dribble drive offense. You didn't see our bigs flashing to the high post, setting screens and picking and popping? Yeah, WE RUN NO OFFENSE WHATSOEVER. I have no idea how we put up 75 points on then #1 North Carolina. We are a guard oriented team because our best true low-post player #42 Jason Holmes has been out all year, so what do you want us to do, throw the ball down in the low block to a 6'3-6'5 guard and tell them go score? Let's try to use some common basketball sense. As a coach you have to ADJUST to your talent, and this year we have shooters, so Woods tailored the offense around that. Sorry if you don't like it, but it's gotten us to 15-0 so I would think Woods knows what he is doing.

I didnt see it last night. You all may have done it this year, but last night looked exactly like what I expected. A SWAC B-ball game with alot of running and jacking. Understand DTGM, this isnt directed at Valley alone. This is all about SWAC B-ball. All 10 teams.

This is why I be wondering what the hell ya'll be looking at. This right here is called a pick and pop, and it is a SET PLAY DRAWN UP TO WIN THE GAME JUST LAST NIGHT.

Yeah, didnt see that last night. I had turned the tv by that time, cause the 1st half really disgusted me watching each team fly down court to shoot a 3 point shot without getting an offensive rebound.

Judging by your logic Sean Woods said, "Hey guys just go out there and run around and throw up 3's until the last 6 seconds of the game, then i'm gone actually coach and draw up a play so we can win..........READY, BREAK!" You see how stupid that sounds??? #ofcourseyoudont

everything i've seen says valley struggles in the half court. they executed at the end of the game last night. awesome for them, but that hasn't been the trend all season. against unc they ran up and down the court all night just shooting off the break.
 
Congrats Valley! Great game.....if I did not know anything about the SWAC and was channel surfing I would would have watched the last minutes of that game. Valley is one of only a few teams that has an undefeated conference record so their name is being mentioned on that alone. I look forward to the SWAC tournament and would love to to see a TSU-Valley Final.

So you saw the same thing? Hmmmm...........maybe DTGM wasnt too off bout rolling the ball out there and saying just shoot 3's all night then.

Let's use some common basketball sense. I told ya'll our best low post player 6'9 #42 Jason Holmes has not played ALL YEAR due to injury. All we have up front is 6'8 Paul Crosby, 6"7 Amos Studivant, and 6'6 Cor-j Cox. UNC has 7'0 Tyler Zellar, 6'11 John Henson, and etc. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU WALK THE BALL UP THE COURT AND LET THEM SET UP THEIR DEFENSE????? If the strength of your offense is 3 point shooting using a dribble drive offense, why would you not play to your strength and run up and down the court?????
