JSU scored 24 more points than Champion Baptist, the "Golden Child" won with talent as a High School coach, want be as easy in college.

Actually, I think its more like 14 games left, JagBR. But I could be wrong! I just want to see the Jags continue to dominate and make it back to the big dance. I believe we have the right coach and adequateb talent to return SU to a level of high respectability. That would be our rightful place.

I think if we make it to the tourney and make some noise like last year or upset one of the big boys, we can get some decent in-state recruits. I would love to see my high school (Peabody) start sending some of their No. 2 or No. 3 players to SU. Most of their No. 1 players, such as Markel Brown at Oklahoma State are being taking by the big boys.

i'm tripping. Yep 14. If we can beat uapb, and valley. Come home at 6-0 for our 3 game home stand, it will put us in a very good spot. Women wise as well.

That would be a stretch at Peabody, since SEC schools such as Arkansas are beginning to look at their players. Peabody has had players to accept scholarships from schools like Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and USC (Southern California) in the last 10 to 15 years. Funny thing, none has yet to accept a scholarship from LSU.

Well word on the street is that besides the commit from Texas that everyone know about, a few other kids committed. smh this man is building a monster not to mention the kids who redshirted this year. The transfer from TAMU won't be playing this year. We are going to be even loaded next year. The team is getting better each and every game. Going for #2.

Those certainly were my thoughts.......We started getting the best from Scotlandville, Peabody, St. Augustine, Washington Marion, Louisiana (including lsu) can hang it up in basketball....Now some folks particularly outsiders will think this is funny. However, anyone that knows Lousiana basketball knows who the consistent baskeball powerhouses are.......and those are 4 of the best...We still have a lot of work to do though in order to become a dominant and consistent basketball powerhouse in Louisiana.......We can't lose the out of conference games that we at least suppose to win and achieve this goal (i.e. LA Tech, Tulane, Arkansas LR).
I'm proud of what we're doing thus far in conference but I expected to garner those 3 aforementioned wins out of conference....

It's not going to be easy. Johnny (LSU Coach) has some serious Louisiana basketball pedigree. I remember back in the day when he led his Derrider Dragons and they were pretty much a powerhouse back then moved on to LSU and played for Dale Brown. Like Banks, he is home grown too, so I know he knows the landscape as well (and of course has the resoures).

I remember back in the day when we use to get a few athletes from those schools. Texas Southern got big Nap Johnson from Peabody back in the day who later transferred to Grambling. And, S.U. got Alvin Jackon from Marion who was awesome. We need to get back to inking some of those players. Banks got a couple of guys from Scotlandville this year which was a great thing but as you probably know Johnny ended up getting the big fish from Scotlandville. Of course we got the other AJ (Avery Johnson) from St. Aug, though he took the scenic route. :lol: :emlaugh:

Actually the big fish off of Scotlandville's team signed with Vanderbilt. Damon Jones is going to play in the NBA. He signed early, if he wouldn't have, SU had a great chance of getting him, especially after the way we played on the NCAA tournament, and his relationship with Trelyn Banks, Coach Banks son. He attended a lot of SU games. Kid had a 4.0 and is majoring in engineering. Participated in SU's engineering summer programs for high school kids. But Bridgewater, LSU took him just so SU wouldn't get him. When they signed him, they were saying things like, signing him for future recruiting considerations. Trust me he will be looking to transfer very shortly. He is a undersized big 6'5" even though he is very skilled, trying to play in the SEC. Well he could play the 3, but in the SEC he couldn't check those quick athletic guys. He would absolute terrorize the SWAC though.

The best player Grambling got from Peabody was Russell Jones. Him and Napoleon "Nap" Johnson, Jr. played together in high school. I believe Nap's dad Nap, Sr. (RIP) graduated from TxSU. Nap, Sr. was one of my fraternity brothers in Alexandria. He taught us swimming lessons during the summer when I was little kid. Although Nap, Jr. was a good swimmer, his dad used to always get him to show us different swimming techniques, but we loved watching Nap's older sister demonstrate to us on how to swim. As a little kid, it was like watching beauty in motion as she glided by in the water. I'm glad we stayed in the part of the pool where the water came above our waist line or Nap's sister definitely would have seen how excited we got when she used demonstrate the different swimming strokes. :lol: :emlaugh:

I hope as long as we can keep him, but I'm sure there would bigger schools starting to look at him. Back in the 80's, Ben Jobe was definitely overlooked.
