Four-Year College Transfers
Basketball student-athletes transferring from four-year colleges to four-year colleges are not eligible for intercollegiate basketball competition until they have met the residence requirement at the new school.

Residence Requirement
Unless an exception is met, all transfer student-athletes must meet the "residence requirement" to be eligible to compete in intercollegiate basketball. The residence requirement stipulates that a student must be enrolled in and complete a minimum number of full-time credits for two semesters or three quarters, or at least enroll in and pass the minimum number of full-time credits for two semesters or three quarters. Summer terms do not count as semesters, but can contribute to the credit requirement

Quincy Roberts is ready for the SWAC at Grambling State

Quincy Roberts has found a new home, and with it some peace of mind.

The former Harrisburg High School standout transferred to Grambling State University this year after being disgruntled with his role in St. John’s men’s basketball coach Steve Lavin’s system.

Roberts is currently enrolled, taking classes and practicing with the Tigers. He will have two years of eligibility left, and is scheduled to graduate in May with a degree in criminal justice.

“I landed at Grambling State because it’s a lot like Harrisburg [High],” said Roberts, a redshirt sophomore. “I wanted to experience a black college so I’m here. I didn’t want to go to another big university ... I already did that and experienced that. I’m practicing with the team and I will be graduating in May. After that, I will be working on my master’s degree.”

Roberts proved in his freshman season with the Red Storm that he could score the basketball, defend and rebound. He’s a natural 6-5 shooting guard, who can also play the point. He played in 33 of 34 games for St. John’s under former coach Norm Roberts. He then sat out last year with a medical redshirt due to migraines related to a concussion in September of 2009.

Only going by what was posted above when lilrj stated he has been there since Jan and no where in that story says he was registered and taking classes in the fall. The story was written in Feb 11 and says he is enrolled in classes now.

But yeah we need to take this to another thread since it is a baseball thread for the games this past weekend.
 
Congrats to Gram on the series win! The conference tourney will be interesting. The Mississippi schools are playing good ball right now also. Once again, there is no favorite to win it all.
 
Division I baseball and basketball mid year transfer must wait until following academic year to play so the transfer should be able to play this upcoming basketball season. There are so many exceptions and Congrats Grambling by the way. My dad is a Grambling alum and he is really proud of your team and the direction it's heading.

Grambling didn't use the same pitching line up when SU came to Grambling or early in the season for that matter. Try again. Wasn't luck, the team was just ready like they have been majority of SWAC play. It was luck we wouldn't be winning series every weekend for the past weeks.:read:

Who gives a damn about 2 years ago? Only narcissistic people. The previous meeting aka this past weekend we won at SU which is hard to do but we accomplished that task and actually should have got the sweep but do to our pitchers getting laxy daisy allowed SU to get back into the game, done with yall until tournament time, now the focus is winning the rest of the games and winning the tournament in Shreveport aka Grambling's backyard. Dude talking about 2 years rotfl. All that talking the talk is for the birds, let the teams walk the walk and see who still standing after the dust clears. May the best team win.

I was at the games. Gram shouldnt have sweep shat. Those games could have gone either way. SU blew numerous opportunities in both games they lost. Gram played great, SU didnt, but still could have won all three. And Gram pitchers didnt get laxed lol. They danced out of trouble all game long, partly because they pitched well , but SU also helped them by having a bad approach at the plate. Swing for the fences instead of just getting a base hit.

Well, who gives a damn about last weekend???? Quit being the same narcissistic person you talk about??? You talk about changing pitchers like that really made the difference. And yallz backyard????? Like I said you can't beat us on your front yard less your back yard!!! As posted earlier, congrats on winning this past weekend. But to sh!t talk here aint a good idea!
