HOUSTON ? Sherrard Brooks went six strong innings, the Southern offense continued to roll and the Jaguars had their first, solid Sunday victory in Western Division play, beating Texas Southern, 17-3, on Sunday at McGregor Park.

Brooks (4-1), the Southwestern Athletic Conference?s current pitcher of the week, shut out TSU for the first five innings, allowing one earned run in the sixth and six hits and one walk while striking out three.

While Brooks stymied TSU (9-27, 5-13), the Southern bats stayed hot.

The Jaguars (21-12, 13-5), who have won 14 of their last 17 games, scored two runs in each of the first four innings, three in the sixth, one in the eighth and five in the ninth.

SU has scored in double figures in seven of its last nine games.

So sad that yall try to play it off as smack... you know dayum well SU cut the number of baseball schollies a few seasons back and Cador voiced his displeasure.

It wasn't smack...yall can do how you please, but the man had a valid point. It's tough enuff due to the limited number of schollies per the NCAA but SU cut the allotment even more.
