Well, it's do or die time for Valley and su. If both don't start a rally now, they'll be at home during the tourney.

Southern wastes pitching gem, loses to Texas Southern

Southern shut out Texas Southern for 11 consecutive innings and lost Friday night.

The Tigers used a single run in the first inning and another in the 13th as bookends in a 2-1 victory against the Jaguars at Lee-Hines Field.

Andrew Garza’s two-out RBI double off Conner Baumgardner (2-2) made the difference in a game in which Southern had a runner on base in each of the last seven innings without scoring after they had tied the game in the sixth.

“We really struggled with the pressure,â€￾ Jaguars coach Roger Cador said. “We played a good game and wasted two great pitching performances. We had terrible at bats and just couldn’t put the game away. We let them hang around and they made us pay for it.â€￾

Hornets, Bulldogs battle for East supremacy

Alabama State will be seeking its first Southwestern Athletic Conference East Division baseball championship this weekend as it plays host to Alabama A&M in a three-game series Saturday and Sunday at Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

The Hornets (28-15) will face the Bulldogs (17-21) in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m., needing just two more conference wins to clinch the division title. The two teams will meet again Sunday in a single game beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday's games will be video streamed live at bamastatesports.com/showcase.

UAPB rallies again, defeats Grambling

Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored a go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth to cap off a late-inning rally and defeat Grambling State 3-2 Friday afternoon at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.
