SU games pushed back to Sunday and Monday

Southern’s home baseball opener will be delayed one more day.

This time, though, the delay was caused by wet weather. The fence, which had not been replaced after Hurricane Gustav, is all ready to go.

The Jaguars (3-6, 2-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division) will host UAPB (7-4, 3-3) for a doubleheader of seven-inning games at noon Sunday at Lee-Hines Field and finish the three-game set with a nine-inning, single game at noon Monday.

Urruuhhh, I think Jackson State is playing AAMU this weekend.

Texas Southern @ Houston Baptist 2:00 PM

It's a doubleheader by the way.

Huskies have done very well against Tigers, despite the Huskies being an NAIA team for most of the last two decades. 16-7 all-time.

We'll see if TSU is just what the doctor ordered for the 0-13 Huskies...

As you said, that's when they were NAIA and with you being so close to college athletics, you would know that NAIA are a lot better than people think. They are those players who didn't have the best grades out of high school or JC who couldn't...

I can guarantee if you look at Biloa University or Lewis and Clark State College, they will beat most D-1's in baseball. Lewis and Clark probably has more MLB players in their history than SHSU and its an NAIA.

He knows that but he's got to show his stupidity and hatred as usual.

All you need is a pulse in order to be eligible to play at an NAIA school and if you have a coach that can catch these kids with major league dreams but minor league grades then you can be successful.

TSU is playing.

Thanks for the update but who cares if we win according to a certain clown, they've been NAIA all those years after just moving up besides they are 0-13 this year.

Just giving the clown's excuse in advance.

A clown is going to be a clown no matter what.

I know all about NAIA and quite frankly, besides a few NAIAs - there's not many that should hang an 'L' on a Division I baseball program with the frequency that HBU did on TSU.

In fact, HBU hung Ls on Texas Southern across the board. Volleyball and similar Olympic, Title IX sports are one thing. Baseball, basketball - that's another. I know Xavier and Dillard could beat a few Div I schools in hoops and they have (just ask Nicholls and a few of the SWAC brethren). Loyola may even be able to do so on the men's side after having a solid women's program for a few years.

Its easy to hang L's on teams who haven't been consistently sucessful in their own conference. Especially, when your HBU in the talent rich city of Houston. You should really know that there are so many talented players who do not have the grades to play D-1 in Houston, these men and women who go to these NAIA.

I seen they (HBU) had wins against SHSU but not as many as they have had against us. In fact, they have beat a lot of D-1s. Now if we had a majority of Ls against Huston Til then I wouldn't have anything to say but we are talking about one of the former top NAIA athletic programs in the nation. Most sports across the board at HBU when they were NAIA were often ranked nationally. Just because someone is at NAIA doesn't mean they couldn't consistently beat D-1s. I guarantee, if they were able to field their team with an NAIA roster, they would've beat OU and other D-1s this year, they damn sure wouldn't have beeb 1-13. Look what Lubbock Christian did to HBU this year. YOU KNOW THIS TT. I guarentee you if Lewis and Clark was in the Pac 10 with NAIA eligibility requirements, they would compete for a title. I had one of my former high school teammate choose LC over USC in baseball and we know how historic their baseball program is.

Hell, look up Sacramento City College in baseball, I bet with a team full of Fres-Soph they would compete for a Southland title and would beat most D1s. They've had over 250 people drafted since the early 70s in which that same time, the SLC has had over 350 since their inception.

I can't speak for the past with TSU (I came in 2003) but the previous AD (Blackwell) did not have the "want to" attitude/vison to take our gold mind of a program to new levels as our current leader.

Well if you knew quite frankly, then there should have been any more written. Especially with the money they have. They will be a force in baseball soon.

TT, please tell me how man message boards do you post on?
I seen you also post on HBU's website.

So far I have

TSPN
AGS
Katfans
HBU
Tx State
Dynamo

I'm sure if any Southland schools have their own message board you are on all of them. Please just let me know but I do not believe your going to let me know. You probably wont let me know though -- does UNO have their own also?

After we swept Alcorn, I thought I might show little more interest in the sport that I hate the most (I was named the strikeout king in the little league that I played in. After that I never wanted anything to do with baseball ever again). I was anxious to see how we did. Oh well, at least we are getting better I think. Still can't believe we swept somebody. LOL!

You should check out some games, SWAC games are very exciting.

Until HBU gets facility upgrades for hoops, basketball and softball - they will have a hard time competing at the same level as the Southland. TXST just joined SHSU and LU in getting their fields in order. HBU is quite a ways behind.

Lurker there. Rare poster on all the SLC boards. Most posts come on LU board. TXST is second, but not as much as of late. Lurk the two New Orleans Div I school boards and numerous other boards.
