SWAC 2008 breakdown position by position (QB)

I'll assume you're going to run the table in the east. Otherwise you need to know that it is too early in the day to be drinking Wild Turkey. :emlaugh:

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Mane.......
Don't even start.....................snniitt....y'all ran from AAMU as fast as somebody being chased by Freddy Kruger. As soon as there was an opening for SU to squeak through (like a rat)............they did. Our AD has upped the ante and all kind s of BS to get SU to at least give us a game on a non-conf basis............y'all ran away with your tails tucked between your legs like a big dog (or should I say cat). We can take this over to the SMACK board if you want BUT the bottom line is that...............SU ran from AAMU as soon as there was an opportunity!!

We were willing to rearrange our schedule and split the gate 50/50 with you IF y'all would have given us our rematch at our HC this year............but noooooooo..................y'all ran the "L" away from AAMU

Lee and Landers are my top picks. I truly believe Jackson State will find a good leader among our QBs. If PV can get good QB play the Panthers will be tough to beat.

Atkins was wanted badly by Steve Wilson as they are from the same hometown....something went down in the process and Atkins started shopping himself to SWAC schools and he liked GSU and AAMU...with Landers back in 06, he felt like he had a shot to play at AAMU earlier...

if not that, he was going D-2....

That's not true. But no need in arguin with you since you know more than atkins himself. That's the reason why I get my info from the source itself

SU's QB position is in good hands with B.Lee or Warren "AIR" Matthews. :) Matthews might have the strongest arm in the conference.

Come on Straw.............yall wanted us to help fill your stadium. Splitting it 50/50 will not be the same as us playing Valley at home in a non conference counting game. Why would we run from AAMU? Especially in a game that don't count. SU just didn't want the game because it wasn't profitable...50% of your gate aint that enticing........if it was JSU we would have taken the deal. Because 50/50 in a non conference game at Memorial between our schools would have been worth our while and the fact we don't have to spend the night(team and band) since it is only 3 hours away. Blame the commish for rolling you all off the schedule. You see we are going back to Mobile because it was a better deal for us to play Bama State there money wise even though we had them at home for a conference game that counts.

What I don't understand is the animosity towards SU about not taking the AAMU deal. I mean it is yall's homecoming, it shouldn't matter who yall play to fill up your stadium. Don't blame us for not wanting to come to Huntsville instead of staying at home and making more money playing Valley. It wasn't like AAMU was going to pay for the Jukebox to come to Huntsville and stay over. Mobile is doing that for SU. Paying everything that we are losing for moving our home game to play ASU. Still lol at the fact you think we ran........a loss to yall wouldn't count anyway this year just like our game with Valley will not count. So what difference does it make if we were smart enough to stay home. Yall would have done the same thing to say a Pine Bluff. If they wanted to AAMU to come down to PB on an off year of playing yall and offered yall 50/50 of the gate.........but you already got the option of TxSU or PV coming to Huntsville as a non conference game..........which would AAMU take? Go on the road or stay at home? Now answer that question and you will see why SU chose to stay at home and got Valley to come on down.

don't hurt them JR...

Dahill.....Atkins is from Carolina and was known way before he got to the SWAC by the schools out there.....if Broadway was at GSU in 06, he's at Grambling by far....

Steve Wilson wanted him badly but the recruiting process broke down too early over something crazy

No animosity from me I totally understand. A home game vs an away game is a no brainer

Exactly. Everybody should do it when possible. I actually like coming to Huntsville and was disappointed we were not on the regular schedule. But it is business and our AD was smart enough to get us an extra home game by enticing Valley to come on down. After all they took us to Chicago with them last year when it was their home game. We seem to have a good working relationship with them.

But are you all going to Itta Bena in 09? If so, there is not much difference in playing them or AAMU.

However, i must say that it is truly sad and smalltime to offer someone HALF of your homecoming gate. :smh: Is it that you all need a decent crowd that bad or do you just want to whoop SUcks azz that bad? :lmao:

We can if all day long... bottom line is Broadway was at NC Central in 06 and Atkins is at AAMU in 08.... those are not ifs, they are facts. TBF... you worry too much about the wrong things and SWEAR you know everything... first it was with Banks... talking about Grambling turned him down for the rb the freshman running back Warren (I believe its his name)... when in fact they werent even in the same class. Banks is a year ahead of the other running back. Banks father played at AAMU, led Birmingham metro in rushing, and was had an offer on the table from an SEC school before they "thought" he wouldnt become eligible and rescinded the offer. Once again you were wrong. I asked him myself (since I dont believe that he say she say bs) and he told me himself he never spoke with anyone from Grambling about playing football there.

I know yall like him, but I'm glad he didn't sign with Grambling. He's a bit too undersized to me and I didn't see any special speed or quickness. Yall played another kid against SU that ran better to me.

Banks split time with Tony Green.... we didnt have a "feature back"...

Banks ran for 887 yards and 9 touchdowns and Green ran for 449 yards and 5 touchdowns. Banks also led the nation in kick returns his freshman year.

Andre Robinson recruited him......he has Birmingham on "lock" :emlaugh:

and it wasn't Warren he turned him down for...it was a guy named ben Rogers, an all-city running back from Birmingham, who signed in 2006 but left school that fall cause he was a prop...

if Robinson brings a guy to the table from B-Ham. it's basically a lock..if AAMU gets some of the BHam talent that has excelled at GSU at just the past 5 years alone, that's the difference between 2 championships....

it's so good now that a guy who had no stats for 3 years in Reggie Jackson turns around and leads the SWAC in some receiving catagories...but he can't hit the field cause you have Henry Tolbert in front of him (both are Parker guys)

as long as GSU recruits a Houston receiver, a BHam receiver, a Texas receiver from the I-20 area and a Louisiana one, they are always successful

Probably not TP. We agreed to go to Chicago when it was their home game last year. Itta Bena is still closer than Huntsville. But like I said, I doubt we go to Valley unless they are a regular game that count. Which they may be.

I am not going to touch your last statement.....I'll let the AAMU folks handle you on that one.:lmao:

Oh, I had to re-read your post. I love em all, but don't forget dem Louisiana boys who catch that rock for the "G" (Joiner, Lewis, White, Pennywell, Johnson, Anderson, Douglas, etc). Wait, what am I saying? Once they come to Grambling, they all become adopted into the family. It's the neckbones and turkey necks, red beans and rice, and thick sistas that gets em every time.

If I had to grade us here, I would give us a C+ at the QB spot for now.

I'm excited about the future with Domonick Britt and Dedrick McDonald, but I have concerns about the 2008 season.

I think that McKenna or Tray Rutland will be the starter. I can't understand why Mosley would walk into a QB situation like this one, but if he's a competitor he's welcomed in my book. Whichever guy we chose to go with we need to ride or die with him......no musical chairs for the first two or three games.

Mosely is doing what was told to him....bottom line....

the kid he battled at Louisiana Tech was a below average division one quarteback and he never beat him out...if he does not play at JSU or caught in musical chairs it becomes a distraction...

MB's interpretation: Dooley wouldn't release him to Grambling. Am I "warm"?

po po T pee pee......
.............untill you can understand the difference between $100k-$150k-$200k and $750kor $800k talk to me later. Everybody has their $$$ BIG MONEY$$$ games set for the year. AAMU has only one such game this year. Splitting $750 or $800k.......................is a lot better than grossing between $100 & $200k any day. Since both school have enjoyed record crowds or near record crowds at each others home site.......it is only natural to want to see it continued. C'mon dude think out of the box sometimes instead of taking a limp-Dick approach to business matters.

You wanna Smack...............take your bantum weight attempts (at Smack) over to the SMACK Board.........other wise, listen and learn.........Grown Men are discussing the merits of why they should have done some business deals together.

JR...
No fault here of taking the best deal that you can get..........we would have done the same thing however there were plenty of other opportunities (we feel) that would be beneficial for both of us. We took our home game with SU to the CCC and we thought that since we have enjoyed a great working and financial relationship.........there was no reason that we should try to keep that relationship going even with the new 7 game mandate???
