It's that time. I'm bored. lol I'll be burnt out discussing and cussing lol by mid-Aug.

The top returnee based on #s and performance? BLee of SU. What was it... 23 TDs and only 4ints? Right? He's a jr this fall(?) and seems like he's very established at orchestrating SU's offense. His #s are just..... damn man. :smh: Like pure gold. He's solid! :tup:

However lol, I like what I saw in Prairie View's <b>Mark Spivey</b> during the closing of last season (last 6 games). :read: He's tall (6' 6") and has a damned good gun of an arm from what I've seen. Seems to command the offense as required and makes some damned good reads/throws from what OTHERS (PV WRs :read: ) inform. :read: He's also evolved to be a "game-changer" of sorts. I'm sure the SUers and GSUers know what I'm talking about if you witnessed the games in which he entered. How 'effortlessly' he'd engineer a drive and have us in a position to score. :read:

GSU's Landers would get very strong consideration if not for the what.... 18ints vs 23 TDs? Gram could've easily been SWAC champs if not for the turnover by air because the other pieces were strongly in place. (read: made too many mistakes - hint! hint! BC :read: )
 
When you look at Lee's TD/INT ratio, you can't help but be impressed. Plus his mobility puts pressure on your linebackers when they drop into coverage.

Spivey at PVU looks like he should be throwing up three pointers instead of td passes. His height gives him a good line of vision downfield, plus he can step out and gobble up ground with those long strides. Looks like he's moving slow, but in two strides he's dayum near 9 yards up field.

Landers has been on the edge of being pretty good or pretty bad. You are right, take away the high int numbers and the missed throws on some scoring opportunities and you have a SCG in Gram. He's mentally tough and takes some hits, but late in last season I think he got gun shy. Still he needs to make better reads and stop throwing to wide open linebackers. But he's a winner and should have a good season this year. Hope so for his sake and the teams.

You didn't mention Reid at TxSU but if he can recapture the form from his early years at Okie State he should be fine. His head coach is a former qb and did a good job with Darryl Kennedy (as off coord) and with Eric Randall (as qb coach at SU). Gonna be interested to see if ColeBloodied football at TxSU implements and runs the HOBO offense as well as it was at Bama State.

Don't know much about the qb's at the other schools...I think most everyone else has new starters. Should be interesting!
 



Lee should have been first team all SWAC over Luke hands down.... His numbers were VERY IMPRESSIVE.

but please watch out for Kevin Atkins... he has intangibles that Luke didnt have: size and speed. I dont believe Luke would have started last year if he wasnt a senior.

Biggs, I didn't comment on BReid of TSU because the jury is still out on TSU's o-line. :read: The "core" of their WR corps is back and he's damned damned good.
 
Well, everyone knows that JSU's battle is between AJ McKenna (JUCO transfer) and Trae Rutland (Junior). Only because of their lack of experience is our QB position of concern. However, the rest of our team is tops in the conference so they will hold it down until the Week Later theory kicks in.

When you say "rest of the team" are you talking about your running backs as well? I thought yall lost all the guys who played last season.

TP would say that Ruthland was a different type QB than Jimmy which lead to his problems in our offense. Ruthland looked down field a lot but could not hit the other side of a barn. In my honest opinion. Even when he had a decent drive you knew he would find a way to F it up in the end. His mind just doesn't seam to be in it at times.

McKenna looks good on paper, on film and he has shown glimpses in practice and in the Spring game. He just needs to work hard all summer and come ready to compete.

Hawkins is a viable 3rd Option who has ran the scout team the last two years.

Two Freshmen and a possible third in Juco Athlete Patterson.
We shale see. Also think we picked up another Transfer with experience so this will be a battle.

AA&M is putting their trust in a guys's highschool performance and Spring. The learning curve is steap for the kid.He has to go up against some seasoned defenses. He can look good in Practice but can he read defenses and will he study the game and pickup on that his first year out?

Valley has two guys who saw a lot of time so they should be solid.

Who knows what ASU has

Alcorn is starting from strach so they can either suprise us all or just flop like most of us think.
 
Michah Mosely from tech is at jackson...saw limited time like Rutland and was second string at Tech.....someone will have their hearts broken

I actually like Rutland. A lot of the other Mafia members do not. I think he has the phyical tools and most of all the arm. The problem with us is that he has been out for a while and then he will have to split time with McKenna in the pre-season. Our WR's could not adjust to him after playing with Jimmy becasue their styles are too different BUT if the coaches give Rutland the starting position and make McKenna take it from him if he fails, I think Rultand will be great. He just needs the ENTIRE preseason to run with the first string. We don't need a QB controversy if Rultand's shoulder has healed.
 
ALABAMA STATE HAS ALEX INGRAM WHO HAS IMPROVED A LOT OVER THE SPRING. THEY ARE ALSO TRYING TO GET MITCHELL BACK IN SCHOOL (HE HAD A HELL OF A GAME AGAINST TUSKEGEE) AND THEY HAVE THIS KID (CANT THINK OF HIS NAME) WHO WAS RED SHIRTED LAST YEAR THAT SUPPOSE TO BE VERY GOOD. THEY ALSO HAVE THE KID FROM OPELIKA (I THINK HE WAS RED SHIRTED LAS YEAR AS WELL).
 
This is going to be an exciting year, because we have practice games with Jacksonville State, ULM, and Tuskegee. These games are being used as a tune up to run the table on the SWAC teams. Looking forward to seeing Atkins at QB. As DA Hill said, Atkins has all the tools.

lol don't start! AAMU vs Grambling! there is no comparison lol! That's like fools gold verses platinum lol! You would have known if Grambling wanted him because he would have been at Grambling! There is a big difference in interest and wanted! We go after the peeps we want and usually get them!

I'll assume you're going to run the table in the east. Otherwise you need to know that it is too early in the day to be drinking Wild Turkey. :lol: :emlaugh:

How is he classified? If Grambling recruited him, he must show some ability. Grambling recruits well at the qb position. What do you all like about his game?
 
Landers (GSU) will have a better grasp of the offense this year and B Lee (SU) will be extremely dangerous. I didn't get a chance to see Spivey (PV), but I would have to put him here because of the experience factor. The rest of us are bascially playing wait and see.
