I had a chance to watch the entire game on the internet. This was my first chance to actually see the SU team play all season. I was very impressed with 7 and 2/3 of the game. Although LSU's Ross recorded 10 strikeouts, I thought SU played a great game.

Personally, I feel SU was 1 out from making it a very interesting and perhaps a different outcome. For the folks who will just look at the score will assume that LSU's win was a cakewalk and it was not. I liked the ethnic diversity that I saw on the field today. I know many of our HBCUs are getting non- African-Americans to play on their teams. It reminds me of predominantly white schools with basketball and football teams overwhelmingly black.

SU, I think you can and deserve to win a game in this region. You have to put this loss behind you and get ready for tomorrow's game. I'm sure the SU nation will be there as well as they should be.

Geaux Jags!

Ditto... all went to hell with 2 outs... It happens in this game. Poise and experience helps you close those types of innings. Good teams make you pay for the pitch over the plate, the misplayed ball, the ball thrown to the wrong place, etc... And it all hit us with 1 out left in an inning with 6 more outs remaining in being the highlight of ESPN for the night. Baseball is life and that was life.

We'll learn from it and we'll be better because of it.

Peace...

I was there it was a great game, far better than what the numbers bare out. I'm to tired to post my commnets about what happen, but I'll have them and pics by late tonight or tomorrow.

I'll just say this, there were more than enough LSU fans walikng up to us and saying we should have won the game.

The same thing thats been haunting SU all season came back to bite them. SU left entirely to many runners on base. SU could have blown this game wide open early but let LSU stick around. All of the calls went against SU, which was expected, SU throws the runner out at second with 2 outs during the big inning but wasnt given the call, and then the flood gates open. LSU pitchers recieved the corners which they didnt give Richard. The situation when SU had runners on 1st and 3rd 1 out, and Lamis bunted, Cador gave the steal sign, and Lamis thought he gave the Bunt sign, which he did by mistake with his other hand. Concerning Wahl, he is a great pitcher but he has to get his fastball across, which is LSU's hitting strength. He should have gone with James Spear, who throws a lot of junk. Its all about matchups.

SU can get to the finals of this regional. I like our chances.

SWAC administrators needs to realize baseball is our sport more than anything else where we can be competitive on a national level.

I can't wait to see pictures!

It was cool seeing some of it on ESPNU, probably due to the rain delay of the GA vs Ohio State blow out. So, that helps us get some national pub out of it.

For the most, great game with one long horrible 1/3 of an out...

Keeping an eye open for those pixs...

Peace...

Both teams left runners on base. SU left runners in scoring position, including 3rd Base. That catches up to you against good team.

Anybody know how the outfielder that had to come out is doing?

As a former baseball player, in this instance, you have to give the pitcher credit for shuting them down. Can't blame SU because the pitcher did his job - he had 10 ks. How many hits did SU get?

Pitching coaches agree... Hitting coaches disagree... lol
Pitchers say the plate is theirs... Hitters say the plates is theirs... The winner of each At Bat is correct.... :)
The pitcher has the advantage since it is usually 1 against 8 and sometimes 1 against 9.

Peace...

Good points - hitters are always at a disadvantage. Especially since the best hitter on the team may only get a hit 4 out of 10 at bats.
I just see it as a pitcher doing his job.

I agree. Just thought I'd mentioned that on-going baseball debate...

The pitcher knows which of however many pitches he has is going to the plate. The hitter either guesses or tries to wait on the one he wants, usually the fast ball, and make something happen with it. Thus, SU jumps out 2-0 with a HR. Its a great game!

I know you are probably referencing college and high school when you say 4 for 10 is good. But, as they move on up, you are great to hit 4/10 and good to hit 3/10; stuggling to hit 2/10.... lol Not much you can do and be considered pretty darn good to do it right or good 3 or 4 times out of every 10 times. That is how hard of a sport it is.

Peace...

Nice shots! Thanks for sharing...

I will continue to say, LSU does not want to see SU on the baseball field when SU develops a deep, quality bullpen.

Southern had those LSU fans sweating bullets in the stands.

Thats my problem with SU all year long. I will give a pitcher credit when they are awesome but all lsu (and minnesota) pitchers are just throwing curveballs. And SU acts like they have never seen 1. Go back and look at the tourney last week. When pitchers did well, they thru curves. J-state did also in Jackson. Franklin hit a fast ball out the park and didn't see another fastball all day.

This game is chess, not checkers. You have to think and SU hasn't been doing that at the plate.:kaioken:
