TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 2) –One of the longest standing non-conference rivalries in Black College Football history will be renewed in September of 2019, as the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Rattlers will take to the field against the Southern University Jaguars of Baton Rouge, Louisianafor the first time since 2012.


FAMU and Southern jointly announced the initial home-and-home agreement on Wednesday, which begins with a date in venerable Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday, September 21, 2019, followed by the return date at A.W. “Ace” Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge on September 12, 2020

Now all we need is a fire ass road trip schedule, hopefully somewhere on the East Coast to see NC A&T or Hampton, someone on the East Coast

This game needs to be a sell-out.

We need both games on HC dates. Our HC, and we be their opponent on theirs. Add more intensity to the weekend.

Marketing the hell outta this game. It's time to pump blood back into this game

its too early for HC. make Alcorn HC. They will be an easy win by then.

Didn't see the date, but make this game HS day or something.

Needs to have some juice pumped into this weekend. It's time we create and bring that awesome energy around these kind of matchups

Gotta take both teams being at the top of their conferences (Southern is a lot closer than FAMU at this point) and years of being on the schedule home-and-home for it to really get back to what it was.

But Florida Classic had a downturn because of Bethune-Cookman's dominance and FAMU floundering atop of the FAMU band issue(s).

It seems like HBCU band culture as a whole has diminished somewhat.

Agreed.

That's why I stated that this game needs to be someone's HC game. Just slapping it on the schedule really doesn't bring fans (younger) to purchase tickets.

You have to surround this game around something such as HC. It may not even be a good draw here at A.W. especially if FAMU band doesn't come which I don't think they will attend the game. So, SU should have put them on HC (again, just doing stuff without thought) these old mind-set back in the day, burnt out ass negros have no vision on how to make things pop.

Man I bet if FAMU was SU HC, that sh1t would have been big, on top of the social media trash talk etc, this game would have been more than just a HC game. And let's say FAMU beats SU on HC, now the smart thing, again, to make this game pop, is to have SU as the opponent for FAMU's HC, mane do you know what and how that game would be?? 1. SU will be trying to return the ass-whooping, 2. This would fuel more energy from the SU Jag Nation to attend this game, knowing it's their HC and knowing we owe them an ass-whooping.

Man we can't just be slapping games on schedules with nothing around the game to boost the game. This isn't 1998 anymore. Stuff is different and ppl move different now.

Just being real, this game won't pull in big numbers smh. Again, another ball, big payday has been dropped by old burnt ass negros not thinking

FAMU was homecoming once in the 90s. Typically Southern and FAMU didn’t need schedule each other as homecoming opponents because that would have eliminated a big gate. FAMU used to bill the Southern game at Bragg as “Homecoming after homecoming” since it was traditionally the first Saturday of November before the series ended in 2001.

The FAMU game will draw in Tally and Scotlandville. If Simmons rebuilds FAMU and they are competitive in MEAC play, then more gas will be added to it. The 100 vs The Juke is an added bonus. I’m not saying it’s going to be a sellout, but the 2019 and 2020 games (barring a hurricane) will have some asses in seats.

No need to make it homecoming for either.

Also forgot, these games are scheduled for mid September 2019 and 2020. Not prime homecoming dates, if you know what I mean.
