SU Tennis Team Sweeps all conference team Wow

Texas is good to us.....but don't act like if you cut Texas off from us we will drop dead........Pay attention......our Focus is back on Louisiana.....We have just as much talent here as we was getting from TX

He always says that. But we just signed another player from Texas in basketball to go with Hyder and Miller who are also from Texas. The other kid that was supposed to come from Texas last year had grade issues. Not like we are not getting Texas kids anymore at all. Hell it is time for us to get some local kids. That is what helped Jobe and Pete win. Wasn't like we had kids from Texas as our key players doing the great SU run. LOL. In Football we had really 2 good players from Texas that helped us win SWAC titles. One was Ryan Lewis at RB who had to wait until his Sr year to even start. The other was the DeMarcus Miller kid who was a prop and had to sit out for a year before playing. Our success began with local talent like his Coach Heish Northern and his homeboys Eric Randall, Landry Green etc. Most of those early Pete teams were homegrown La kids with a sprinkle of kids from NC or somebody like Wofford from Cali etc. Same for the Jobe years in basketball. Texas kids never were on the basketball radar. Even Moreland at TxSU went to Ms with his connections to always fill his roster at TxSU. SU may be Texas heavy student body wise when it comes to out of state students but we have never just relied on getting Texas kids to win in the SWAC in sports. Hell the band has probably had more influx of Texas kids than the sports programs over the last 20-30 years.

Yes, the band owns Houston and Beaumont. lol

I laid it out in the forum as to what's going to happen with the facility...hope they tell you :emlaugh:

We're not worried about TSU as they're a different market than us. Their battles are way different than our battles...we've proven to win with less while they're trying to find that formula across the board

As for Coop, regardless it says PV but its odd they didn't include the UNCW incident...typical

I know why the band owns Beaumont....Ray Charles sees that...

JR loves to mention football, but Cador's baseball success recently was all about Texas and other places. Even Thomas' track teams (when they were good) had Texas on lock.

These young kids ain't crossing the border anymore as tuition is higher and they grew up in far suburbs to where they want to be close to where they came from. These kids tell me that all the time and their parents too.

SU baseball had players from coast to coast, stop it. SU track, under Thomas was mainly Louisiana, with complementary folks from other places. But you talk as if PV is signing Texas High school stars. Thats not the case, PV don't recruit locally, because they can't sign them. SU entire athletic SUcess in the 90's was SU getting top flight athletes from Louisiana.

Exactly. Hell two of my LB's that ran track under Thomas was from Wisconsin, had some from Florida, so it's not like we're depending on Texas for anything.

Dang...post something positive about SU and all the envy comes out...

Some of yall must of had a girlfriend, fiance, wife, etc... stolen by one of us or something ... yall have some deep seeded hatred for my dear Southern U!

Football pays the bills. LOL. Cador also has had plenty of star players from other than Texas too. His best player Ricky Weeks was from Florida. Actually he has had less success lately with all them Texas kids. LOL. Soon that tuition factor is going to go away. There has been talk from the higher ups about the border states. If that happens where Out of State fees are waived. You can't tell me all of a sudden these kids are just sold on staying home. LOL. It is all about money. Those out of state fees kill kids leaving most states if they are regular students. The athletes don't have to worry about that anyway.

As for the facilities deal you laid out. Again I hope yall get it. No one needs to tell me about it, yall need to tell P88 so he can believe. But right now you do not have anything built and paying a coach 191K a year in his first head coaching job.

And what have you proven to win with less? Those folks are gone from PV except your Ladies basketball coach. Which again, the Baby Dome ain't a bad place to show recruits. Basketball isn't about facilities as much as football is. If you can win in basketball and get to the dance, that will help you recruit. Football is another animal. Frazier won with less and Charles was your AD when he got hired. Both are gone. Like I said, Heish better at least come in second place this year in the West or his own job may be on the line. You are at least 2- 3 years away from anything being finished with facilities if you just voted on it.

LOL. You shole is right. Heish is trying to get La kids himself.

I think TBF is thinking about how many band members came from Houston with him when he was a crab in the Juke. LOL. He confuses a lot of students who hail from Texas coming to SU versus how many athletes we actually were getting. Hell this is as many Texas kids I have seen come play basketball at SU. LOL. The football roster still has some too. But HS football in Houston ain't kicking that much arse anyway. The suburban Houston schools are doing the most damage these days and those kids ain't going to TxSU nor PV for the most part. Or any HBCU for that matter in droves. We would be better off recruiting kids from Beaumont, Port Arthur, East Texas and some of those country areas for some players if you ask me. With all the talent in La and MS we should be concentrating there. I would even go into Arkansas a little bit to try to get players. We are already doing that in Ga. and Florida somewhat again which is cool.

Your LBs? :emlaugh: Alot of your bros when I was there grew up around the corner from me

JR, I just left North Louisiana this weekend and we played SU in 2 sports the past 2 weekends and I know straight up what these parents told me....yes, we can't get them all but most of them want their kids to stay close to home and the kids know the difference between states, schools and cities

PV gets alot of suburban school schools now as that's where the parents moved to..the city schools barely have anyone there.

Charles has been gone 4 years and his replacement, Fred Washington took what he started to another level as the cups and major championships came under his watch.

You think if I called Broussard he would look at the PV AD job that's open? He is coming to the crawfish boil on my side of town soon and if he brings the wife, just show her the shopping, fine arts and suburban living and the deal is done. :emlaugh:

this whole post is so true...but ya know.....some people are delusional

You are co co if you think Broussard would leave SU for PV.

Its not happening but hypothetically...

why not? If SU only offering 3 year deals and he gets a 5-year deal with a salary boost, why wouldn't he? If I had the time to list, I remember when the GSU job opened in 2006 and how many current head coaches contacted GSU looking to leave

If you look real hard on the Internet you'll find the plans for a $40 million dollar rec center and the athletic facilities plan that was voted on recently at PV. Yes, you'll see the shiny pictures soon but the coaches here won with little, so just imagine them having something. Plus, the new AD will be on board and folks are sweating bullets hoping PV doesn't hire an AD who'll come in with a kick ass rolodex :emlaugh:

If Wilson is wanted by someone else, that's progress as the last coach we had moved on and lo and behold she's at USC with a Prairie View A&M degree. That's what you aspire at this level, not committing more financially and then shoving them out the door after 3 losing seasons with a new contract.

BINGOOOOO!!!

You know damn well USC could care less if Cooper's degree was from PV or U of Phoenix. In their eyes she is a Trojan and only a Trojan. LOL. Look how they threw yall under the bus in her bio.

Okay, JR this is the 2nd time within 12 hours I have had to ask you this question. Must you be so cruel? :emlaugh:

PV potential is no where in the universe as SU. PV dont even have a real fan base. It's 1000 times easier to get corporate SUpport at SU also. PV doesn't get covered in the media like SU either. I could go on and on, but Once SU enrollment gets back where it needs to be, and it is, our athletic budget is going to zoom past everyone's in the conference like it was for the longest. An when you are depending on 88% of your budget coming from school funding like PV, that isn't health, at all. Y'all need to work on getting more self sufficient.

Delusions of gradeur-- a delusion (common in paranoia) that you are much greater and more powerful and influential than you really are
delusion, psychotic belief - (psychology) an erroneous belief that is held in the face of evidence to the contrary.

This is sad.

Will you non SU folks just congratulate SU's tennis team for their achievements and keep it moving?

For the second time, congrats Jags  (see how east that was)

Broussard ain't coming to PV. LOL. I know our AD very well TBF. Got him on speed dial. If Broussard leaves it will be for a bigger school than SU. He is good to go at SU and has an outstanding relationship with this Chancellor. He is good in LA. Remember he is light skinned with a French Name as GR would say.

Don't make PV to be the end all be all. You have to live WAYY out there and it ain't surburban. Unless you live in Cypress and drive. You forget my Line Sister is married to your Band Director. It ain't that easy of a commute. Everyone ain't enamored with that side of town TBF. Now TxSU would have a better shot of getting Broussard than yall would. His wife could live in ANY surburb of Houston she liked then. Or in the City with the money they pay over there.

It's all good C-Leb.

Don't tell TBF nothing. Hell he is a phone call away from working at TxSU himself. LOL. He knows the truth. Let someone offer him more money than PV is paying him and he is ghost.

Okay, JR this is the 2nd time within 12 hours I have had to ask you this question. Must you be so cruel? :emlaugh:

LOL @ Jrock. Just had to respond to the typical TBF rhetoric. Don't know what them folks at SU did to him to make him always think there is nothing SU can do to return to the top. I bet if SU called him tomorrow and said the AD job was open and they would like to hire him. He would tell PV and Texas to kiss his arse. LOL.
