SU Seeks Control Of Bayou Classic

To each its own, but you know what the Big12, Notre Dame, SEC, PAC10, etc would tell a major television network to go if they even thought about asking them to PAY to be on TV.

My point was simply that if this game is the biggest game in all of BCF and they had to PAY NBC to televise the game, then BCF will NEVER get on a TV network because this isn't practicle.

I wiould be willing to bet that this game probably doesn't NET anymore than then major Classics.
I'll bet that you are out of your mind.

I attend both the Florida classic and the Bayou and I can tell you without TV revenue FC aint even close.

The Bayou's battle of the bands makes almost as much as the FC and definitely makes more than the rest, excluding the Magic City Classic. I was at the Chicago Classic last year and it aint no Bayou.

What is a lie, JayRob?

If we intentionally play our game when Notre Dame is not playing to ensure it is on TV, we again control our date. So, that shoots your whole arguement down...

Again, the date of our game is set by us using all information available to benefit our universities. I know it's hard for you to believe that black people are capable of making sound business decisions based on the best ROI for us (probably just how you were raised).

"If you INTENTIONALLY played your game when Notre Dame is not playing?"
You have to be jokin.
The dates Notre Dame plays their football games is not even open for discussion, so that shoots your argument down. In other words su ONLY has the ONE choice of playin on that LEFTOVER date when ND's NOT playin, plain and simple. In other words, it's a "take it or leave it scenario". How is that controllin' anything?

And for you to call it a SOUND business decision for su to pay a million dollars to be on TV, when other schools are not payin out ANYTHING to be on TV, but are in fact gettin paid by NBC to be televised is ludricous and laughable all wrapped up in one.
You're just too embarassed and too close to the tree to admit that su and grambling are truly being crapped over by NBC.:smh:

You spouting off opinions, but you still ain't produced no numbers supportin those opinions.
Take away NBC, the Bayou Classic ain't that hot after all.

It's the city of New Orleans that makes going to the Bayou Classic appealing, not necessarily su and grambling's football or bands.

Hell, the Jackson State/su game to me is more hyped than the Bayou Classic (when it's in Jackson), and it's not sponsored by anyone, nor is it in a city such as New Orleans. Take NBC and New Orleans out of the equation, the BC ain't all it's made out to be.

In your own words then, its worth buying air time paid for by a multitude of wealthy sponsors. JSU and SU game isn't seen in 10 million home.

Yeah, the SU and JSU game is a regular game. It's no classic, the game isn't televised even though it's a game you would want to see every year.

Without NBC, neither would su and grambling.
My point is that why do the white schools get paid to get paid, while the two Black schools have to pay to get paid?

You called that a sound decision. Compared to the other schools televised on NBC, that's not very sound to me. It just tells me that yall ain't controllin as much as yall thought yall were controllin.

Like I said, SHUT THE FUGG UP. I don't have to pray for us nothing. You are worried about the wrong d@mn thing, and you couldn't wait until a thread was started about SU. SU must have something that you want because you follow us like a

I don't need arrogance, peon. Please post somethin worth postin and something with substance instead of your usual "shut the fugg up" one-liners.

I didn't make this bed that su's been gettin screwed in for all these years. One of your own BC schools opened up this can of worms (thanks Thames).
I'm just here commenting on it's stench.

It's now out in the open, and there's nothin you can do to put this genie back in the bottle bruh, so why don't you just sit there quietly and take it like a man, like su's been havin to do for so long by way of "big daddy" NBC.:quiet:

Once again you answered your own question, WHITE.

Why doesn't a JSU grad make as much as a Harvard grad.

Dude how stupid can you be. The BC has been played on the same weekend way before being on TV. So how does have to do anything with Notre Dame. Also we were on NBC I believe since 1991 which is before ND's deal with NBC. So your point is moot. You act we have a clause in the contract that say we will be bumped for ND or something. Not to mention most of the 1-A schools are done playing by that time. Only a few regular season games are left by that time anyway. Hell ND wouldn't have an opponent to play that late in the season. I can only think of the Arkansas vs LSU game, Texas and A&M game and maybe Florida vs Florida State being big games played around that time.

This has nothing to do with ND and the BC working around them. I guess we should just pull the game and the profits that we make. BTW, I was reason Kellogg's started sponsoring and got them to buy commercial spots starting in 2000. Believe you don't even understand how much money is involved. The only argument SU is having is where the profits should be distributed when the checks arrived. Since it involves the BR campus, folks are saying that the rest of the system should not profit from it and it should go the BR campus which could help with athletic department finances. Gram aint having that issue I don't think since they have only one campus.

Also if we don't play the BC on NBC, then JSU would not get a cut of anything either. You better go back and read MD's post. Some of you have no clue. Just run and jump to conclusions and have no idea. The battle of bands alone makes more than the majority of the SWAC games.

Once again you answered your own question, WHITE.

So are you sayin that su and grambling have been reduced to playin "monkey shine" or :happydance: to NBC's tune just to get a piece of the NBC pie? Is that what you're sayin? A simple yes or no would suffice.

I say what I want, and it ain't my fault if your stupid azz talk to much saying stupid schit.

Where them numbers at? Show me some numbers proving profit since you seem to be in the "know".

And since you mentioned notre dame getting a contract AFTER the BC had already begun, how in the hell could THEY get a contract of this magnitude while su/grambling was there long before notre dame came on the scene?

Why does su/grambling have to payout money to make money while nd gets paid to get paid again? Please explain that one.

Oh, and please show me the profit numbers. Catmandue can't seem to find 'em.

Nope, those are some of your outlandish assertions. Gramblimg is damn happy and aint got nobody splitting hairs.

Cause Sponsors don't have a problem paying 50k for a thirty second spot that why.

You may spend money to make money but this is PIMPING to the 10th degree. That game is the only show in AMERICA on that day. The SEC, BIG 10 , Big12, even Conference USA has TV deals with major networks that generates revenue from the TV deal alone. I'm SHOCKED that NBC is not paying a dime to televise the biggest draw in all of BCF.

Sure, Grambling and SU win financially in the end because there are several more contributors to the revenue pool, but in the end BCF still loses because if the biggest draw PAYS the network, then the other games don't stand a chance.

Not true, Georgia and Georgia Tech play on the same day on ABC every year.

Now, how is it that we are being pimped when the sponsors are the one paying the bill? Dude, GSU or SU doesn't have that kind of money to pay NBC directly. You all had better believe that there is no way in hell that State Farm, Ford, Coca-Cola and the rest of the sponsor would be willing to pay that kind of money if there was no benefit to them.

NBC is also a sponsor of the event, which means they probably provided a discounted package for the 4 hours that is booked for the game. In November, take a look at your Tivo, cable, or TV guides to see the time that is reserved for this game. Chances are that it will be for 4 hours. With the exception of the major bowl games, there isn't a regular season game (on any level) that is slotted for 4 hours like the BC is.

And that crap about BCF losing is just that...crap, because the game is between GSU and SU. And they ain't losing jack.

Ok. Since someone doesn't know the tradition of Notre Dame. Notre Dame's rival is USC. They only play USC late in the year if the game is played at Los Angeles on ABC. Notre Dame plays USC early in the season at South Bend, IN on NBC. So that ND arguement is moot. Notre Dame never play at home during Thanksgiving weekend.

At 50K, per 30-60 seconds spots thats a lot of loot.

DON'T YOU EVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT BECAUSE THEY BRING YOU DOWN TO THE LEVEL THAT THEY ARE ON AND BEAT YOU WITH THE EXPERIENCE THEY HAVE.
