Does anyone remember the true story of the SU/PV Band Fight? I have heard different versions and that the PV band will never ever go to Southern again.

The fight did not happen at Southern. It happened in Beaumont (TX).

The fight has nothing to do with why PV band isn't making to the trip to BR tommorrow.

To be honest, there are so many "true stories" floating around that one will never know who to believe. As for the band not going, that is probably the LAST reason the band wouldn't go, at least at this point.

I'm sick of PV not making these away games lol j/k...I think we ALL need to start a "Y'all iggas need to make this away game" fund for our bands

Everyone knows that PV's band ain't allowed to leave the state of Texas. When all the talking is over, they don't go anywhere, How you gonna claim to be the best and you don't even show up. LOL.

I can tell you the true story too, after all these years, pv folks are still in denial.

Lewis, we will not need a the band to dust SU's behind on the gridiron Thurs night.

Not to take anyone's ability to inquire...but, I wish folks would stop wondering about a fight with no relevancy that happened over a decade ago. Folks worry more about the reason why it happened more than they look for the actual footage.

In the end...who gives a isht why/how it happened? The event was deemed "unneccesary" with no real reason a long time ago. So, if you just HAVE'Ta have an answer...."it just happened".

Lewis, it's part of swac history ... what happened.

Why isn't the pv band traveling? Doesn't Espnu pay the cost of traveling?

After all this time, both schools need to move past this.

But I think both schools have already moved past this. At least for the times that I've traveled to PV and met with band members/frat it's been nothing but good times had for me.

Exactly. The only time this gets brought up is right before a PV/SU game. Usually, it's from folks that aren't doing anything but coming up with new, creative ways of bringing the same ol'subject up again. Kind of like being questioned by 20 reporters who ain't doing nothing but asking the same question 20 different ways.

Let it go, B.

Blade,

Seriously, I could care less about smack. I just want both bands to perform. All I'm saying is that both bands should be performing on this national broadcast. If it's not th fight, and it's not bugetary, what's left? PV's band should be there to represent.

Can't get a simple answer.

Exactly. The only people who haven't moved past it are the multitudes of people who continue to bring this up. I was IN the fight, and have met and chilled with SOOOO many Jukebox members since that. Y'all just need to let it go.

If there was a simple answer, I'm sure it would have been given. In the years immediately after the fight, it probably played a role in PV not making the trip. Now, I doubt it. And btw, ESPNU does NOT pay for bands to travel to a football game.

damn yall sure are sensitive about this subject; dude just asked a question; we discuss everything on here from the rooty to the tooty; if someone brought up the asu/jsu fight, folks who were there or in it would discuss and keep it moving; let me pass out some tissues to these dudes

Dude...as someone who has watched threads like these produce on and off this very board...please stfu. This very subject gets brought up EVERY year...so, keep your "we discuss everything on here" logic. We sure do discuss it...but, why beat the same horse EVERY YEAR, when all it was was a case of circumstance?

Everyone's reaction in this thread ain't NO DIFFERENT from the JSt'ers and BamaSt'ers that have to go and explain things when that fight comes up. The only group out of the four bands in those two incidents that seems to have different answers are the few JSt. folks that still find it benefitial to add "who got beat up more than the other" during JSt/BamaSt. fight discussions.

And, it ain't got isht to do with sensitivity. If it were the JSt/BamaSt fight that was ALWAYS brought up right before a JSt/BamaSt game EVERY YEAR...I'd say the same thing. It's the equivalent to having a fight in HS...but, folks always asking you "what happened?" as a 28 y/o....:retard:

Ain't nobody mad. It's just folks need to press on.

Pretty much.
We're ALWAYS talking about stuff that happen in the past. I don't see how this topic is no different, other than folks seems to be sensitive about it.

And I was there for the ASU/JSU fight (not IN the fight), and I have no problems talking about what I saw happened that night. It was a stupid fight, like all these other fights among HBCU bands.

Sorry, to seem like I was picking on ya. But, those two questions aren't one in the same. Hence, the rebuttal. The fight might've helped the cause of not going to BR along...but, it was never the sole reason. Not even close. PV's not going to BR started well before 98.

*singing*..."and, that's what it's ALL about."

thanks crit; i could see if folks were smacking PV or SU but dude was just asking a question (like everyone could easily do) but it wasnt even like that

Nobody is sensitive. If you wanna know that bad, this forum has a search function that you can use, and I'm POSITIVE you will find another thread about this whole incident that will "answer" the question in this thread. I was in the fight (which happened 11 years ago). Every year around the same time, the same conversation will appear. I really could care less about it, and contrary to what you folks think, ain't nobody sensitive.

My question is, after 11 years, does it really matter what even started the fight?
