SU loses track coach and top sprinter

I'm not blaming them.....especially in track, or baseball, or basketball.

But to say it "just happened", why wouldn't just go to ULL or somewhere close just to get the hell out of there?????

Both, the track star and the former olympic coach was offered to attend top notch programs.

I could see if everyone that has left went to a D2 school or someone lower than our programs. But to go coach at Georgia($$$), run track at A&M (go see their facilities), and play basketball at Memphis is a whole much larger than what you are proclaiming.

I am sure they will have to go the interim route. Are you available for a small fee C-Leb? Seriously, I can't blame Brian for rolling out for greener pastures. He was under paid and he had connections. UGA made a good hire. I wish him well. Hopefully the next coach can continue what Brian did.

I'm sure that when we had an Olympian on our team two years ago and when Michael Tinsley (Olympic silver medalist) was at JSU, they probably got offers too.. but they didn't go to another university.

Just answer the question TP. You know damn well if a SEC school came over to JSU right now and said we want your coaches to come tomorrow. They would leave you high and dry. It's finances. APR loophole is only for rising Srs anyway to leave a school. Just like the UCONN players stayed and won a title after APR ban. That's because they were already at a big time basketball program and if you were not going to be a Sr, you would have to go sit out. For any of our schools if a kid can escape for a bigger program, more than likely they will. If that DE you guys got could leave for a SEC school right now without sitting out. You think he would not?

Godfrey left because Memphis had a kid leaving as well for whatever reason and he is going to take that kid's place. He was considered a Major recruit at one time. We all know dude wanted to play for bigger schools but had issues. Hell he was headed to LSU before we got him.

Our AD is not the problem dude. The coaches have no issues with him. You keep letting GR tell you that mess. We would be in worse shape if Broussard was not there and we still had our former AD.

Broussard says he will do a search for a coach but in the meantime the assistants are running the show and splitting duties (mens/womens).

I believe the only reason Banks didn't take the job at A&M is he would probably be looking for another job next year 'cause A&M is about to start looking for a new HC.

Yes, the APR mess hurts SU. And Yes, he did say (in the paper) this was merely a financial move. But do you think even with your school receiving rave reviews from the NCAA, would your track coach love your school so much he would turn down a job from a SEC school???

Listen, you guys have a very bad administration right now. Your leadership is usually poor and corrupt but its in disarray for sure. You have a poor AD and the future of your athletic department is failing and really up in the air under his leadership. Its smart for any of your players and coaches to jump ship especially if they are not vested into the university. You cant gamble your career on things getting better anytime soon when it looks like things might get a lot worse. I wouldnt blame that guy for going to Georgia, Georgia Southern, or Georgia Coummunity College.

I wish those guys the best

I agree with 94% of what you said...except it wasn't Georgia Southern, GA State, or GA Comm. College. It was UGA!!!! It really would have said something if it were GA Southern. That's the point nearly most of the ppl on this thread are saying.

I get the point you're making, but Ga Sou has an enrollment over 20K and I'm willing to bet they could pay much better than we could.

JAG94, since you're one of the more logical posters from su, I'll bite. The fact of the matter is that not only are coaches looking for a way out but so are the players.
If this was JUST coaches leaving for better opportunities, that would be understandable but it isn't.
This APR thing at su is pretty serious.

You have some of your best athletes simply packing up and leaving. That's never happened at su at this rate. I can't think of one time that so many players have left one school in such a short period of time.
ALL of this is APR related in some form or fashion.

Hey 94, now I have a question for you. How bad is this entire APR situation at su? I know I won't get a serious answer from most, but I have confidence that you'll respond with honesty and integrity.:tup:
