SU/JSU clips

IMO, JSU trumpets were hanging over a lil' too much. At times, yes it does create an added effect, but when done excessively, that effect is lost and selections lose their overall quality.

I agree!

Okay, how many threads and memory on this subject.

The wear and tear that get put on a server. :whatever:

Yep I agree. They were hanging over so much. At least one was so often enough that my Line Brother said they must have "his name" one of our other LB's over there in the Boom. LOL. As a former Screaming Demon in the Jukebox, I will give JSU trumpets some props. They have range and power. Not as clean as last year. SU's trumpets sound good and are clean. Just don't have the range I would like them to have. Our baritones and mellophones often cover them up. As a former screamer, I like hearing clean and powerful octaves. So that is the difference between JSU and SU trumpets.

As far as the Jukebox is concerned. They are getting better and better each game. I am impressed. The Boom was powerful, but again not as clean as last year. I can tell Dr. Magruder is gone.

Beaucoup, but the thing is... It is weird to me that no one pointed out that SU trumpets used to do the same thing...but more in moderation.

SU trumpets from what I heard has nice range... They just have a whole lot more to blow over...Strong Mellos and Baritone kinda settle that down....
I know if you have about a good 7 to 8 power screamers you can get things done....But I think the SU trumpet section is a smart section and is playing the hand the best they can....

To tell you the truth, alot of those cats over at JSU really don't need to be screaming if that's their concept....

I don't but the total blame on JSU trumpets, some of that stuff sound like they just got it... some of it was just plain falling apart at times...

 @ Mom-E.

Where you replying to my statement?

Yeah I was but I digressed and opened up another topic. SUtrp... I remember when we were playing FAM in 2001 and Jeff Reese was right over me and you could feel those boys drowning out everything you tried to produce, so the mellos and B-tones definitely cover a lot of the highs. I remember you writing one time that you popped a grand c and the B-tones, who had the same pitch, stole your glory.

Now I see why it somehow disappeared 2 1/2 years ago.

Po server......:smh:

Dear Band Board.....HOLLA!!
:emlaugh:

Heyl yeah....lol

And you know I ain't weak at all.... People don't know what we have to fight with....
Now 96 we had about 16 strong screamers ranging from (G's to anywhere in the grands)

But how many trumpet sections you going to get like that?

I don't see SU as not having the same range as JSU because JSU is doing it more.... SU does it more in moderation, which is great to me. Truth be told The LOUDEST screamer I heard that day was from SU on "Get it on" fanfare..
When I tell you dude hit a grand D loud and HEYL at the end before they come back in with the last line.... :what:

BRA you couldn't tell me ARTURO could have hit it louder.....lol

SU do it with good taste..... I don't like when they stagger breathe them G's on "Neck"...though.... Them G's supposed to come straight threw...They have cats pushing them G's real strong... But you know in 99, we didn't have as many that could so what we did, BLEW the heyl out of the regular Gs it was real strong and thick....

There are many ways of having a great trumpet section besides screaming...Although I love screaming. The key is knowing when and when not to do it...

I know I wasn't hitting any G's in 99....lol... Tim was upset...lol
But like I said...there was this kid at FAM taping us in 2001... when we were playing Do What You Wanna... this dude was acting like a crack head....do it again...WEEEEEEE... he'd just start jumping..lol... song plays...MEMORIES...

:bawling: I MISS THE SONIC BOOM OF THE SOUTH, and I NEVER thought that I would be saying that. Seriously, Make It Last Forever really did bring a tear to a ni99a eyes. Not just that, but the SWAC sound as a whole is so different from the MEAC (ughh)!!! When I listen to JSU or SU (but moreso JSU) chill begin to run up my spine. SU, you all do sound good on a few songs, but over JSU is the ish now call me bias or whatever. Deezamn, (thinking about Keith Sweat song) it really is nice on the real. I swear I played it like 7+ times on the real. R.O.O.T.F./E.O.H. you all were hangin' over too much on alot of sounds, and it did take away from the essence of the song. You all still sounded nice, but it could have been so much nicer. Oh yeah, and I barely could hear the Clarinets and the Piccolos on Nodybody Does It Better. But overall, yall sound straight, could be better though.
