So pretty much the NCAA randomly select Southern thats how they got caught up o ok nothing to see here... The NCAA just recently started the APR in 2004 so this couldve happen to a number of our institutions.

How was they not? But this one is falling on LaFleur? I don't understand. If they had cleared up LaFleur's mess from the previous ban, but now a new one is coming down the pipe, then this one is on the new administration.

SU will be fine... It just goes to show you that incompentence and nice paycheck doesn't go together. Previous administration had a major piece in not getting this done.. That is obivous.

Its tough for these kids to have this happen.

GEAUX Jags!!!

You can't try a man for the same crime over again. Double Jeopardy. LaFleur took his abuse for the first ban and SU "supposedly" rectified that. Now another ban is in the works and you guys are going to try to blame the guy again, even though he's gone?

Yes...this one is on that DMF LaFleur. The paperwork in question was from 2009, so this was PRIOR to Broussards' and Banks' arrival.

Pretty much.

So, no one checked the paperwork from 2009? Or is it just now coming out for the 2009 years? I thought you guys were already banned for those years when we got banned?

He is a good one, the best in the SWAC in my personal opinion as an overall AD.

Two bad some of your fellow JSU posters do not think so. I think he does a great job. Since I don't know what other ADs are doing. I will not annoint him the best in the SWAC. But I can say he is at the top of the list for sure.

Compliance issues can't be put all on the AD, there are other folks that are suppose to be doing their job to keep teams and students in compliance.

True... which is partially why most folks involved are not at SU. Different AD, Chancellor, compliance officer, academic support, coaches (except Pugh, Cador and Couvillion), registrar, etc.

This was when the NCAA was coming back to SU after 09. It was posted here when the past AD was all in front the Board and the media saying we were worrying for nothing. He had it under control. Simple paperwork at that. Nothing earth shattering. Just give the folks what they need. Too busy doing everything but the right thing. But folks were on here saying we were wrong on how we did the AD. We had cause to fire him for way more stuff than the Houston thing. That was just the last straw.

It was on his watch Beans. If you the AD, to me you need to be riding compliance and everybody. It ain't that hard to walk into peoples office with AD power and say mofo get this isht done. It is not all on him. But he was in charge. The other folks who should have been doing the actual work should be held accountable. And if they are still on the yard. They need to be fired immediately. Politics and favoritism is going to be the death of our schools. We still like keeping folks around who serve no purpose at all. Poor Broussard don't even have a competent Assoc. AD. Dude should have been gone years ago.

I'm sure the current AD didn't know the paperwork submitted in 2009 had discrepancies/issues.

THIS(in bold)

Who said it was about compliance?

Anyhow it's the AD's job to make sure that he follow up in all departments as a check and balance that everything is in order and if it's not find out why and go to the appropriate person to fix it.
(kind of like what our current athletic director is doing now)

Academic Progress comes under compliance....

So is that the same as it being the Presidents fault?

True, but... if the AD is not spot checking, he can be held accountable too. It's his job to make sure that things like this don't happen and everything compliance does is up to par. He(LaFleur) was incompetent to begin with, but that's another story and another set of threads.

So did the President spot check your AD? If not it's his fault.

LaFleur hired the folks who were handling this. It falls all on him.

Are those same folks still working in athletics in that same position? If so then the problem has not been solve.

The Chancellor could have... that guy is no longer here either, though. Check my reply to you above.

That seemed to be the only straw at the time, but since they came to a agreement about his final payment on his contract both parties we at fault.
