Ya know what. Most of yall BOOMERS probably never heard or
even seen The STORM before. Like lilC said "The BOOM hasn't
seen anything remotely close to the STORM's style in d*mn near
20 years. So how yall gone be that cocky as to say that yall don't
have time for "small-time" PV because we'd lose anyway. And
since yall playin TxSU at home this year, yall don't have a reason
not to come to PV this year. If it's at our stadium that would
actually be better than the Reliant or the Dome because
we'd be right in each other's face.......you'd have to
put up or shut up, and no excuses.

:idea: You gotta remember that they are way over yonder and they are a hop, skip, and a jump away from FAMU, BCC, and them other southeast schools.....They all share the same mentality.....If they haven't seen enuff of you, they say you suck and your not in there league.....They think that the top HBCU marching bands stop at the dirty dirty Mississippi Rivah.......NOT TRUE :redhot: :redhot:

Cosign. I can honestly say I have never heard of BCC before a couple of years ago. That same argument about no one knowing about PV across the mississippi river can be apllied to those schools over there too.
 
Well BCC aint in the SWAC and I feel like every band in the SWAC
should know about each other by now. JSU know us.
They're just cocky.

That is so not true! :lol:

It's more like out sight, out of mind, if I had to guess on what type of mentality that you think us Southeastern schools have!
If you're not seen, then of course you're not going to be included in a TOP 3 of SWAC bands by your peers. That's just the way things are! C'mon now... you know that! I can't say that Alcorn has the most hellafied tuba players in the SWAC, if I ain't never seen them (FYI: and I actually do think they're good!)
I don't EVER recall folks, especially JSU folks just completely dogging PV or saying, "that you suck and not in their league."
It's not our fault that PV hasn't been visible over the years, and it's certainly not JSU bandmembers' fault that they haven't paid ya'll a visit in so many odd years; Charge that to Dr. Lewis Liddell, JSU's Director of Bands and probably his mindframe (AT the TIME, before our 2003 season) of not traveling to a game where the opponent already had a history of losing seasons! Think about it!
The years I was in the BOOM, we would have LOVED an opportunity meet up with PV!!! Trust!
I have seen PV's band (though it's been some years!), and ya'll are definitely on point!!!! But to ASSume that all SWAC schools east of ya'll think that ya'll are not a quality band is crazy!


And to Musikfreak! Not all JSU folks are cocky! Many of us are just confident! ;) Everything is a matter of opinion anyway (I'm tired of preaching this!!)... so don't take what folks say seriously on here!
 
Crit, you are absolutely right. And most JSU posters I am very cool with. They know how I feel. BUT....We know it's not ALL of the JSU posters who are coming sideways. But there are DEFINITELY a few. What we say is not an indictment of JSU's program. We know it's not y'alls fault that Bluto.....err....Liddell hasn't broght the Boom to face PV. Our point is, why is that so hard to understand to SOME JSU posters when the same situation happens to another band.

Some have seen us. Others haven't. But we have had our share of exposure, both good and bad. And we have consistantly fielded a quality, top-notch, exciting band for the last decade and a half. We are not fortunate enough to have a powerhouse football team at this time, which limits what we as a band do...Nobody likes it, but for now at least, that's how it is. But that in NO way determines how good our band is.

If some of you can't understand our frustration, then so be it. We never said that we are undeniably the best band in the SWAC. That's up to personal opinion and preference. But we are just tired of everyone doubting our ability based on how good our football team is or where we go every year. We never said the BOOM was bad. I told SEVERAL JSU posters that I met at the game that I was impressed after seeing them live FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE this past season (I wasn't able to make the TSU game in 99, and before that it had been QUITE a while since they were there). So in all honesty, some of us could say the same about them as they say about us.

It's not about that to us. You don't have to like us. You don't have to like our style. But don't deny that we are dayum good at what we do, just like every SWAC band. HAve your preferences, have an opinion, and be an individual.

As many have noticed, I get long-fingered (winded) when I talk about stuff like this. I am just passionate about what we do, the same as many of you are about the band/org you are/were in. And we are doing no different than any of you would in this same situation....Defend what we hold dear from ignorance.

This type of rhetoric builds individual pride. It's never personal.
 
:rolleyes: Despite the piss-poor record our football team has every year (I still support them though), I feel that a new classic should be made between us JSU vs PVU (The Big Kat Klassic)......the game should be held on neutral ground like northern Louisiana somewhere so both schools fans can have an easier access to the game.....Just like 70,000+ fans flock to the Cotton Bowl every October to see "World Famed" vs "The Marching Storm", with time I believe the same can be done for us...... That's my ruling :smash: Can you dig it?:nod2:
