Steve Harvey Meets With Donald Trump Amid Major Backlash for Jokes About Asian Men

What a week. Steve Harvey met with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower on Friday, January 13, amid major backlash for jokes he made about Asian men on his show one week prior. Watch what he said about their meeting in the video above.

The 59-year-old talk show host seemed to be in good spirits after meeting with the 70-year-old real estate mogul, telling reporters that he was hoping to work with Dr. Ben Carson to “bring about some positive change in the inner cities.” Carson is currently going through Senate confirmation hearings over his possible role as Trump’s Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

“[Trump] wants to do something,” Harvey told Fox News. “And he realized he needs some allies in that department and he seemed really sincere about it.” Chicago and Detroit are among the cities that Harvey said the incoming administration hopes to “target.”

probably because the folks "taking meetings" have come out of said meetings without saying anything substantive which leads me to believe that they were ill equipped to go in there in the first place. Steve Harvey cannot come out talking about the things Trump wants to do as it relates to crime and housing in the inner cities if he didn't go in addressing Trump's own discriminatory housing practices or his plans to appoint an AG who doesn't really believe that "black lives matter". I mean besides a photo op with Trump, all we've gotten from Jim Brown, Steve Harvey and the like is b.s. like "he seems sincere"...."we gotta give him a chance"....blah blah....

And... still dont care. Nothing of benefit..nothing of harm. Its just a bunch of nothing in my opinion. Much more important stuff to worry about.
 
Steve is part of the 1%. Of course he can talk to Trump. But as someone said, why didn't any of these black folks agree to meet with Trump at the White House with Obama (who is STILL president)? They all went to Trump Tower like some lackeys for a photo op?

I am getting tired of seeing people say "we need to work with Trump. Why we can't give him a chance?". He has done NOTHING that denotes giving him a chance. Look at how he disrespected John Lewis and his district. Did people not pay attention to the debates? Every time black people were brought up "crime and poverty" were mentioned.

And let's not forget the piling evidence tying Trump to Russia. That stuff will eventually come out
 
Never been a fan of Steve Harvey. Kelvin Frazier and TJ Holmes are more talented than Harvey but less successful. I guess Steve Harvey was given an opportunity? Steve Harvey speaks with a drawl and he sounds like he has a sock stuck in this mouth. Steve Harvey's meeting with Trump just validated the opinions I've had of Steve Harvey. To each his own, I'm done.

President Obama paid the bills of a lot of people's bills who wrote him with their financial plughts. I wonder how many people's bills will donald pay.

Y'all knew who Steve was when he had Paula Deen teaching black boys at his camp and told the folks from his show platform, those that didn't like it could kiss his ass....I gave him another chance and thought when he was on his show saying we can't elect this man cause he hasn't been elected dogcatcher, he was gonna be all right. Not! Pie in the face. He is exactly who he has always been. WE just need to accept it.

You do realize why Trump has only called entertainers to meet with him don't you? Out of the black business owners and educated blacks in America he called Kanye and Steve Harvey, Floyd Mayweather and the likes. It's because he thinks we are a bunch of dancing and singing monkeys with no intelligence who only strive for entertainment. Wake up young Brother and don't let chasing that dollar make a fool out of you. You're smarter than that my friend.

I am not saying Trump is some good dude..

I am saying the act of accepting a meeting invite is not that serious.

How is accepting a meeting a conflict of principles. Do you agree with everyone you meet with? Do you meet with people who have total opposite agendas at times?
A brother going out and advocating for stop and frisk or some other policy that is going to hurt black people, I agree. A meeting invite. Who the hell cares?

My wife asked me yesterday, what is Steve Harvey meeting with Trump going to change and I answered nothing. I asked her what would him not taking the meeting change and she answered, nothing. So if the result of meeting or not meeting leads to the same result, why should I care?

So you'd meet with white female liberals, who are advocating for gender neutral bathrooms, to ask for their support in helping kids in the hood? Maybe they can bring gender neutral bathrooms to the hood...along with economic development lol. If so, do you still trash these folks?

I meet with a lot of white female liberals actually and yes, I do hate white progressive millenials. Sometimes I collaborate with them. I actually was out working with some today in the hood to promote digital literacy at the MLK resource fair. On that subject, our interests align.
