Steve Harvey calls West, Smiley Uncle Toms

I voted for him as well. If you have to boil down the convo to such a level of oversimplification, you are entirely missing MY point. And one of the reason I voted for him was his campaign promise to assist us to live in peace by withdrawing US troops. That has not been done, but it seems as if you have a problem with him, it is racial self hatred, not his policies. That may be an oversimplification as well.

I was simply responding to what you posted about the Bible and how many Black people tend to treat/view/regard President Obama as some type of deity who above questioning. But if I did miss your point, I apologize.

And I never said I had a problem with President Obama; I did say I don't agree with some of his ideas, but overall I think he has done a good job with getting the Healthcare Reform passed, and his attempt to have our troops come back home. I applaud the fact that he got the Federal Pell Grant raised from $5500 to $6000, but I think more could be done with the Education Recovery Act. I like the fact that some of our HBCUs received money from the Educational Recovery Act. Just because I voted for him does not mean I agree with everything he does, and just because I don't agree with everything he does does not mean it is racial self hatred. So, it seems like I'm not the only one who's bringing the convo to a level of oversimplification.

Earlier this week during his syndicated morning radio show, Steve Harvey went in on Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornel West for their constant criticisms of President Barack Obama.

"I was a huge fan of Cornel West," he said. "[But] Tavis, I seen him coming a mile away. His anger started when he had a town hall meeting, President Obama couldn't come because of the campaign trail and he sent Mrs. Obama. He has held that grudge every since."

"Who in the hell got 2-3 days for your ass? I ain't got time to sit down with your monkey behind for two, three days, let alone the President of the United States. We got three wars going on, the economy crashing and we going to sit down with Tavis ass for three days?"

Harvey ended the rant insisting that somebody is paying Smiley and West to produce the Poverty Tour, asking "where are you getting the money for these buses?" But not before performing a skit where he said he was the president of UTLO.org (which stands out for "Uncle Tom Look Out") and that he spotted an "uncle tom" driving a bus.

Really my take on Steve Harvey is the same that I have on some Black Americans. And that is some of our people who are upset about Smiley and West are those same people who never had an interest in politics until Obama ran for office. Let's face it, the majority of our people, are politically immature. When I see public confrontations such as this,it shows on how politically immature some our radio personalities are. Just because someone disagree with what Obama is doing does not make them an Uncle Tom. How many times do you think Michelle Obama agrees with her husband? We will NEVER know how many times she disagrees with him because she will show the public that she and husband are in one accord. How many times do you think Hillary Clinton have disagreed with Obama, but we will NEVER know because Hillary and Obama are on the same team, they have to show that they are in one accord. President Obama ask for their input whether they agree with him or not,he still values their knowledge. We as the voters are not married to Obama neither are we elected officials that have to WORK with him EVERYDAY.We are the "CHECKERS"...meaning we have the duty to say to the people we elected to CHECK THEIR FOCUS. Because they the politicians have a lot on their plate and their focus can get lost in the hustle and bustle of poliitical events.

Now for us as voters,we have to study political history if we are going to take on a public role in politics. Just like the term "tar baby" is an old political term meaning "sticky situation". A lot of our people did not know that political cartoonist placed George Bush's face on the "tar baby" character when the U.S invaded Iraq. That was saying the Iraq situation is sticky situation that America will find itself hard to get away. Really my advice to Steve Harvey,Michael Baisden and the rest of our people is go read political history first before you go on air and make a fool out of yourselves.
