Steve Harvey calls West, Smiley Uncle Toms

Earlier this week during his syndicated morning radio show, Steve Harvey went in on Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornel West for their constant criticisms of President Barack Obama.

"I was a huge fan of Cornel West," he said. "[But] Tavis, I seen him coming a mile away. His anger started when he had a town hall meeting, President Obama couldn't come because of the campaign trail and he sent Mrs. Obama. He has held that grudge every since."

"Who in the hell got 2-3 days for your ass? I ain't got time to sit down with your monkey behind for two, three days, let alone the President of the United States. We got three wars going on, the economy crashing and we going to sit down with Tavis ass for three days?"

Harvey ended the rant insisting that somebody is paying Smiley and West to produce the Poverty Tour, asking "where are you getting the money for these buses?" But not before performing a skit where he said he was the president of UTLO.org (which stands out for "Uncle Tom Look Out") and that he spotted an "uncle tom" driving a bus.

I am not a Dem or a Repub because they are on the same team and we as dumb black people can't see it.

So now if you question Obama the messiah, you are an uncle tom. It ok to question Bush, who was one of the worst presidents ever, but Obama the savior, we have to say everything he does is right. We are too dumb to see the contractors, the financial sector are running our nation with complete authority. Bush did what they ordered him to do, Obama is following orders and the next one will also.
 
Steve Harvey might want to shut up before his shit gets out there. folk's gone learn to keep their mouths close when their house is not in order.

It amazes me how you so called libs, and black repubs take pride in calling Obama the Messiah. A term white southern racist use to call a black man a n i g g a. You can't be that stupid and think it is cute to repeat what these racist fuks are saying. No one is happy with everything Obama is doing, but only a self hating, toby, white loving black person couldn't see that what 70% of the bs this man is getting is pure hatred. Black folks just don't support each other. From Africa, to the 2011 modern USA, we have envy, strife and love to see each other fail. We even sold each other out in slavery, so only a fool would believe we wouldn't take joy in seeing the first black president fail. Black Amercians have no pride, self respect or love for anything. The only thing blacks in America take pride for is kissing the azz of white folks. We love to talk about the civil rights movement, but don't tell the truth that over half of the blacks in America thought Dr. King was crazy and causing trouble. We only got on board when we could get something out of it. It shows. Look how we support nothing black the more we achieve.

I am a fond believer that African Americans and Hispanic Americans should form their own party. If both races combined forces with a positive agenda this will be a force to be reckoned with.

Now as far as President Obama I am just as critical of him as I am of any other President. You see congress, which included President Obama at one time, live forever on a higher standard than ordinary citizens. They receive a salary and the best health care for the rest of their lives even if they serve one term. Which to me is sickening. How many jobs can you hold where you work for 4 or 6 years and receive those types of perks?

As much as I hate to say it we are living Dr. Martin L. King's dream. I say that because we can now express how we feel about a given political, social, or other subject. I enjoy Dr. West, he has some great points. I also enjoy Brother Tavis Smiley because he at times states the things that we are thinking but do not want to state. I think what President Obama should have done was once he became elected request CNN to interview him with Tavis Smiley being the interviewee. Yet, to me this entire issue is a divide and conquer structure because these are three great minds at odds with one another.

I wonder how this debate will be discussed 50 years from now.

Well, 96 percent of black voters voted for Obama in 2008. Even when the country was still attempting to recover from the devastating economic collapse and black unemployment was 17 percent and even 20 percent in metropolitan cities, blacks said they were better off during the Obama administration than during the Bush era.

Even though we are possibly going to have a double-dip recession and more people than ever are on unemployment, food stamps and public assistance, some 77 percent of blacks still support Obama despite all of it.

Nobody is above legit criticism, Cee. We can't get caught up in being enamored with a black president and forget about holding our leaders accountable.

Where did I say don't criticize the President? I stated call him names that these racist slave masters use such as Messiah, Golden Boy, Osama, the special one. That is not not criticizing him, that is showing your love for a white devil!!!! Look at the face of these white southern devils when they call him that, then go look at the pictures of white men in the south when they hung black folks or killed them. That same look is on their faces!!!!!! The truth in your souls will set you free. You can lie to me, but you can't lie to yourself when you love those white folks!!!

A lot of blacks do believe that Obama is some sort of deity or messiah who can do no wrong. They might not use those words, but one would be hard pressed to say that mentality doesn't exist in our community.

You really don't get it do you? I see why blacks have more education than ever before, yet we own and have less high positions than ever before. There is no way you can ever live in the southern United States and not see the racist point of view these folks have. Our ancestors raised half of the baby boomers as maids. Cared for them more than 90% of their own mommas did, yet they still think of them as those good ninjas.

Nobody is denying that racism exists, Cee. You are upset that Whines referred to Obama as a messiah, which is somehow is a demeaning term toward him and blacks. Heck, white folks originated the term ******s. But what did we do? Try to make it our own by changing its meaning or spelling it a different way.

Yet, there is no outrage from you when folks on here use that word, even when it is spelled differently in their posts. But you get bent outta shape over messiah? Seriously?

But that is not what the thread is about, though.

A black woman quit paying her rent after Obama became president. She said “We have a new president and things are going to change."

"We must re-elect our president and let him finish the job we voted for him to do. As far is I can tell, the ONLY people calling Obama anything out of his name are the folks who DON'T support him.

I never heard an Obama supporter call him (or refer to him) as a deity or Messiah...but here we are...having this discussion. It's not even as if the term Messiah or deity was self imposed either. So what gives?

As I said, one doesn't have to refer to Obama directly as a messiah or deity. But how they view him and what they say about him in regards to how they feel about him as a person or president underlines that notion.

When Obama was running for president there were stories written about Obama being treated like a rock star, how he whipped up crowds into a frenzy with his speeches on the campaign trail (much like the YouTube video I posted). Bill Maher even commented how it seemed the media -- mainly MSNBC -- were so enamored with him that it appeared they wanted to make love with him.

In the eyes of many black Americans, Mr. Obama can't do no wrong no matter what. If he is criticized, you will hear folks say stuff like, Oh, the Tea Party hates him. The right hates him. He can't get anything done because he's black. It's Bush's fault. I've heard and read all these things from people. Heck, the newspaper I freelance for had a column in the paper about a big conspiracy to see Obama fail.

I don't know if this tour by Smiley and West is just for show and self aggrandizement. But lost in the Uncle Tom insults and the finger pointing, and who is racist is the fact that people are in dire straights right now. The poor and the disenfranchised need help. I hope that is the goal of this bus tour by these two men. To bring awareness to this issue.
