Anyone know the status of the SU vs Pine Bluff football game? Rumors around campus says if the game is not played as scheduled than they won't play.

How can a conference team change the scheduled sent out by the conference? Is this a SWAC thing?

TheGoodDoctor,

Intriguing!!

Hmmmmmmmm!! The Conference has not issued a schedule. Only conference members have issued "tentative" 2004 schedules.

They WILL play.

Both teams are in the same division. They have no choice but to play. This is not like the JSU / Texas Southern deal, where the teams were in different divisions.

The bottom line is that both teams are open on November 20th . . . and that is when they will play. If not, the entire conference will be thrown into turmoil . . . if it isn't already.

Seems like SU is balking at having to give up the open date they have always had on the week before the Bayou Classic. They won't have that extra week to prepare and is wary about that.

As of now, on UAPB's schedule, the game is penned for November 20, at 2pm.

But I heard a rumor that the SWAC office is thinking about re-doing all of the schedules in SWAC. Don't know how that can happen, but then again, it's just a rumor.

Hopefully we can say screw UAPB and use one of our other two games that don't count.

I blame this fiasco on the SWAC. How do you let a team move a conference games from AR to St. Louis without accomodating the other team for the added expenses.

At this point, it makes more sense for SU to play a 10 game schedule rather than follow UAPB to St. Louis.

X___________CO-SIGN!

Hol up!!! Hol up!!! What happened that caused the SU-UAPB game to be in jeopardy??? They play every year, so how is it that a date can't be found???

And I hope y'all ain't surprised that this kinda thing can go on in the SWAC. We have cornered the market on making the simplest things the most complicated. Our leadership is truly suspect.

uuuuh, AAMU is going to ST. Louis, not SU.

No sh$t Sherlock. ;)

After we turned down the offer, AAMU decided to go. It was not feasible for SU to go to St. Louis

Thats a LIE.... ask Mighty Dog (someone in the KNOW) how it really went down... It would make your whole statement feel like an embarrasment.

Here's a novel :goodbad: why don't you tell us how it happen..........this ought to be interesting.

Here they go again, what I do know is the game is a regular yearly schedule conf. game between two western div. school that is played just about every year at this time.

Also that I wasn't the one disputing what Jag Voice said, DAHILL did.....

A little late in the day for that, I think, but if they do, they need to reshuffle the home/aways as well.

Give each school a partner, and no one goes to or hosts both partners in the same season:

ALST/AAMU
TSU/PVAM
SU/ALC
MVSU/JSU
GSU/UAPB

That way everybody has 5 and 4 every year, and 5 home or away only depends on where you play your partner......

I did this the other day and only had to switch 9 games around to make it equal.

That is a pretty strong word to allege.

I agree. I have been saying this for years as well as a couple variations of similar alignments. Ever since we split the conference football programs into two divisions.

Hmmmm funny how this sounds like something from someone I know who has stated time and time again there is no excuse for "ALL" schools not to have 4-5 home games a year and that the only state that should be visited twice in one year is Miss.

We just met with the AD on Saturday and not one mention of this scheduling fiasco. Could someone please enlighten me on the problem of why the game was changed from Oct 2, to Nov 20. This s the first that I heard of SU palying in St.Louis or turning down an invite to play. Hmmmm! Please explain.

How is that a lie. From my understanding the date, set by the conf., for the game was the same date as this St. Louis thing. UAPB tries to get us to go to a neutral site, but doesn't want to pay the right cost for us to go there, so we decline going. We would rather play in Pine Bluff rather than getting that kind of figure. How a school can simply change pre scheduled dates and opponents like that is unheard of in any other conference.
