State Farm To Drop Bayou Classic

You can tell some don't understand and doesn't realize it. They think it's all good after 7 years when people are spread out over the entire U.S. I know people from New Orleans that live here in ATL struggling due to the lack of education etc. People live in their little plastic bubbles and can't grasp what happening. They don't realize the black race and communities suffered the worst in New Orleans. The down economy doesn't help but the Classic will bounce back. Like i have said time and time again, the BC still attracts, the only difference now is many stay in their hotels to watch the game wore out from Friday partying after the BOTB's/Greek Show and parties galore.

I suggest you call and ask also lol. BTW, State Farm provided money, goods, and/pr services in exchange for the exclusive right to have the their name appear prominently before the title of the Classic. They needed us more than we needed them. The Classic survived before them and can survive without them lol. This departure maybe a blessing. Someone better can come in and do some things to get more butts back in the seats. I actually think they should package the BOTB's/Greekshow with the actual game. Have that package for a very affordable price and once the economy gets better if that ever happens, raise the price once again.

Sponsors do not involve themselves in putting more people in the seats. State Farm owns the current logo. More money went to outsider entities than the schools prior to State Farms involvement. The return on investment is the reason StateFarm is pulling out of this classic as wells as other HBCU relationships. Why place a lot of advertising dollars in a venue where the attendees are not purchasing your product. You seek other markets.

They can help influence. SU and GSU really need to put their heads together to see how they can attract more people to come. A packaged botb/Greek show and game ticket would do wonders for attendance. Both for 25 together would definitely attract more.

listen to that East tex guy...he's dead on...

you can still have 70K but they still have to buy your product...Bowl games change sponsorships all the time....we were lucky to have long relationships but eventually all good things come to an end...and Bickerstaff's removal from promoting the game has a direct effect also

Bump that price up another $10-$15. The BOTB/Greek Show has more people in attendance than what some of the SWAC schools can attract for their home football games. $25 package deal would probably be a little too cheap, unless the game ticket is for the nose bleed section. lol

I will never understand why our schools offer MBA programs, yet we lack marketing so much? How can you teach someone about business and not give them your major profit as a project? Someone up top has to consider this. Give those grad students a real project.

Needs to be cheap to get butts back in the seats. That's the whole idea. More people means higher attendance that looks great on tv, attracts more sponsors which mean more money then ultimately the money will balance out. Once the attendance gets back up to on a consistent basis thats when you creep the prices back up slowly. Simple marketing. You have to be smart during these economic times.

So any word on who is thinking about stepping up as a sponser?

Why do YOU care?

I'm reading this thread and asking myself why are so many J-Stank people commenting about a game that doesn't affect their school?...(answer: country)

And why are J-Stank people showing up on Southern's main website posting/asking questions about the status of the Bayou Classic?...(answer: thirsty)

If the Bayou is so beneath you why does J-Stank continually show up to the Bayou (and get ignored) every year?...(answer: desperate)

How about this, fix that tin bucket of a game between you and Alcorn and leave Southern and Grambling affairs out of your worries. The Bayou Classic will be fine; as long as it's between SU and Gram and stays in New Orleans Thanksgiving weekend.

I will say this, some of you are correct: When Southern gets back to normal on the field you concerned J-Stank people will see a difference in game attendance next time you travel to New Orleans. We got a deal on that GR, BB, Thames and the rest?

Pure Jealousy man. They don't want to come out and say it but its evident in their posts lol. They always take the back seat to GSU and SU lol

Word. I kinda get the feeling that even with all of the newly-created progress J-Stank has accomplished in their hell hole of a college city, deep down they hate it when people automatically mention SU and Gram when discussing the SWAC and leaves their poor Mississippi school out of thought. Sounds like someone hates being STUCK in THIRD place.

Man if they are not in the conversation they make sure they put themselves in the equation. Narcissistic at their best. lmao

Things a 12 year old would say!

Really J, what's your concern with this? Why are some of you going to great lengths as to post questions on Southern's website??? If we are so poor then why are you worried about SU affairs? For a first, I think USA is right.

Oh i know i'm right. They don't have to say it because they show it. They are infatuated because they never been apart of something as big as the Classic. Even their Chitterling Collardgreen Classic with Alcorn has never been on that level:emlaugh:
