I don't think these fans will want to spend money on that game and then have to do their schools homecoming

Really Fiyah? Come on man. A fan is a fan. Truth be told, there is not that big of a difference between a TSU fan having to travel from Houston to Dallas compared to having to travel from Houston to Baton Rouge. The same with a SU fan making the trip from BR to Dallas compared to Houston...even though it is slightly further. The bottom line is that there are just as many TSU and SU alums here in Dallas as GSU/PV alums.

There is no reasonable line of thinking that anyone can make that should question whether or not the game can't draw well.

Sounds like some PV fans are hoping it "fails".
Man nobody is hoping anything. It's going to turn out just like we think it will unless some innovative marketing occurs; hint lol, target disd kids w/ reduced tix prices ~7-10$ lol. Other than that, I'll be shocked if y'all have 7-10K people in there. I've seen this act before upclose. Maybe the SU contingent can target the GSU folks for support lol since you all are La natives and all.

Ask recents UAPB vs sTu how they did. Ask Alcorn St how they did in the metroplex. Ask NCAT how they did there. I forgot the other two HBCUs who played games there in the early 1990s simply because I did not care for any game not having PV in it :D . Good luck w/ it though but no PVer will be there to support that. We really do bleed purple/gold 80 game losing streak.

No, I think PV people understand the Dallas market better than anyone and are being real. We've played in the city for damn near a century and have the largest HBCU base there. Regardless, the SFC won't be impacted and will have already taken place. If stating the obvious hurdles (ie the fickle DFW market, the lack of a huge TSU presence in DFW or fans that will travel up from Houston, etc) means we are hoping it fails then so be it. I mean you have an SU guy on this board saying that SU will bring 30-35k to Dallas and an additional 10k will attend just to see the jukebox,LOL. Now that's just crazy talk.

I'm kinda getting that impression as well. And I don't understand why considering that it would have NO impact whatsoever on the GSU/PV game.

The game won't have an impact on the PV/GSU game but the PV/GSU game will have some impact on the likelihood that casual Dallas fans will attend another game 2 weeks later. That's all I've been saying but some seem offended by it.

The bottom line is that there are just as many TSU and SU alums here in Dallas as GSU/PV alums.

.

There are NOT just as many TSU/SU alums in DFW than PV or GSU. I'd say close to 90% of TSU grads live in the Houston area.

I respectfully disagree with you on that. There is no proof as of now that indicates that is true. If that's the case, I could say the casual Dallas fan probably couldn't make the GSU/PV game but would be able to make the SU/TSU game. I have no proof of that either. But its a theory.

I think a lot of folks are confusing hope w/ reality.

One year UNT played SMU on a dreary rainy night post ut-ou w/e. 792 people :D . I lmaao'd :D . If you thought that Houston market was fickle, the dfw market, particularly the bougie blacks, could care the hell less for HBCU ball other than almost recent entrant GSU and established PVU. Since 1929 PV has played that area. Name recognition damned near 90 years and an established annual event stakeholder. I would have thought SWAC grads were smarter. Did Firewheel at Garland not teach? What about the SWAC tourney hosted by the city of Dallas where PV and sTu made the finals? (Sellout btw; other games 250-300 folks not named PV or sTu)

I'll go out on a limb and predict 15-17K folks max for SU vs sTu.

It's gonna' be mediocre to below avg. I've had my hands on the pulse of the dfw market for a looooooooong time both professionally & as a member of our established NAA chapter & our most recent startup chapter covering the northern most sectors. The truth hurts.

What was that att of the last HBCU game played there w/ sTu and UAPB? 2800, 3200, ...???????

How many times have you heard some of those talking about choosing which game they are going to attend if it is close to homecoming? Now they want to ask Su fans to travel to Jsu, Dallas and homecoming presumably in the same month. It's not all about the distance to the site by itself but the funds needed to travel there as hotel cost, meals, money spent at the fair and other misc stuff have to be accounted for. Then they will have to do it again for their homecoming game. They are gonna weight these options as they plan their travels for football season.

There is not even a close amount of Su/Tsu alums in DFW than PVAMU/Gsu Alumni.

You guys cant be serious...Yea..UAPB and TSU did play in 09...thanksgiving weekend...when it was cold and if I remember correctly a light drizzle the entire game. Plus neither team had anything to play for at that point. As I mentioned earlier, TSU casual fans attend games regardless of our record against SU. And if we are winning, more people will come. That's just the nature of us with football attendance..it is what it is. Come on now...whether you guys admit it or not, you all sound petty and for no reason. Even if only 20k show up, so what? Why do we have to set an attendance record the first year out the gate and why does the attendance have to be in competition with the GSU/PV game which has been played in some form or fashion since Negro Day at the State Fair existed? Yall have to see how petty yall sound for real. This game was about financial gain, exposure, and recruitment for SU and TSU. Both teams are trying to better recruit DFW. This helps there as well.

Dude SU fans will be at homecoming and JSU regardless. LOL

The Dallas game will see a lot of SU fans from Houston, Shreveport, Monroe, Austin and DFW on top of the usual travel base from S. Louisiana. We aren't going to depend on TSU fans but I am certain their local alums will be there as well. @Bewildered said 7-10K? FOH. LOL Especially not the Inaugural game in 2018.

Then the locals who just want to see something new.

And don't get it twisted... A LOT of PV and GSU fans will go to both games. Maybe not yall on this thread but a lot will. As will the usual SU and other SWAC fans who go to the SFC.

Correct but will they dish out to go to Dallas also. Remember it didn't work out well when PV had that 4 year deal with the Louisiana State Fair to play there against Su & Jsu. (I know, I know....Su don't like North Louisiana....LOL)

That was my comment, so thanks. LOL

It didn't drizzle when UAPB played sTu. It was a nice bright sunny AVERAGE, cool to some decent to me, day in Dallas. I recall it vividly because I was sleep earlier that morning when a UAPB alum called me and asked me why I wasn't attending. So, as a favor to her and her alone :D , I made that long commute from north Tarrant/Denton co border and watched. Then proceeded to go to the car wash on MLK and hung out w/ quite a few buds and family members who do their thing there on Sats. :D

I don't understand why most are catching feelings when the realized truth is being exposed regarding the (black) market of the dfw metroplex by those who have the pulse of it, have lived here for other than a measley 2 years lol, and also what they have seen/endured firsthand. Local'ers UNT-SMU have a problem drawing their own large alum base to their football games so it stands to reason that 2 HBCUs that dwell > 260+ miles away will do much better, since they are HBCU and obviously they are targeting the black market area of north Texas lol. LMAO@"30-35K will represent just one school and of that 10K will be there just for 'da band.'" Gonna' rival that ou-ut fanbase from each school w/ those #s. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Guilty! I won't lie. I HOPE the SU/TSU game does well for the time that it is here.

People in Dallas are fickle. I know alums of both PVU and GSU from my era who do NOT attend the PVU-GSU tilt; they are native Dallasites/Fort Worthites; still live and work here; raising kids here; ... and do NOT attend the game, at all. The old younger me would push and prod them because I wanted those #s for our game to exceed 65K+. After begging on my knees (literally smh), I just left them all alone and let them dwell in whatever anti-GSU anti-PVU school cynicism they possess(ed). These are grads/alums of each school and even they won't attend a function that includes their schools.

The average black, who more than naught transplanted to the dfw metroplex, how do you think they'll view this new startup game? They are brainwashed to know cowboys, ou-ut, and GSU-PVU, "smoo"(smu)-tcu-unt in that order. The BED (Black Entertainment Dollar) will be mightily stretched w/ a new game AND couple that w/ the natural (HBCU) apathy most possess? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.... 792 people lol. 2 local north Texas schools drew 792 to that then 74,000 seat stadium the weekend after ou-ut. I lmao'd. I thought black people about the greater Houston are were fickle... shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... they ain't got NOTHING on the dfw bougie black folks. :D

When we played UAPB the attendance was over 20,000. The game was moved during the season. It did rain I was there.
Charles would not have signed off unless he was guaranteed as much as we would have made here.

It will out draw the Labor Day classic in the first year.

It rained? 20K? More like 2800-3200.

ETT, y'all played there twice? :D The sun was shining that day. Bright as hell, COLD to some but again decent to me. I was in the stands on UAPB's side. :D
